Explore Japan Episode
On January 25th, Channel Nine aired an Explore Japan episode, showcasing Okinawa, Wakayama and Tokyo. Beginning their adventure in the southern island of Okinawa, the hosts Trevor and Kim canoed on Gesashi River, dived in Nagannu Island, learnt the secrets of longevity from local grandmas, tasted some local delicacies in a traditional Okinawan restaurant and watched whale sharks and mantra rays swim freely in the huge world-class 8.2m tank at Churaumi Aquarium. Then they went further north to Wakayama, exploring ancient pilgrimage routes, relaxing in natural hot springs and experiencing the renown Japanese hospitality (called 'omotenashi') at a ryokan, a traditional Japanese inn.
Finally they ended their trip in Tokyo, finding how affordable the city is while shopping, cooking and tasting some local delicacies. The episodes can be watched on Gurus Explore's website.
