PILOT Health Tech NYC 2014 Provides Problem-Solving Funding for 10 Startups
PILOT Health Tech NYC is back! The NYC Economic Development Corporation and Health 2.0 teamed up again to provide $1 million of funding to pair early-stage health tech companies with pilot stakeholders in NYC. Innovators will be connected with key healthcare organizations including hospitals and clinics for trials and pilots. 10 startups will receive up to $100K each in funding this year and will join last year’s innovators, which included StartUp Health companies AdhereTech and Sense Health. Binational Partnership Emerges at Annual ONC Conference
Over 1,000 healthcare innovators focused on turning “lazy” health information into “active” data at the ONC’s Annual Conference last week in DC. In a significant move to help activate our health information, Hon. Kathleen Sebelius, the U.S. Secretary for Health and Human Services (HHS), and Rt. Hon. Jeremy Hunt, the U.K. Secretary of State for Health, signed a memorandum of understanding to advance the applications of data and technology to improve health. StartUp Health’s Community Director Polina Hanin was honored to be part of the conference’s kick-off panel, which was led by Bryan Sivak, the CTO of HHS!

Sense Health Named Merck Innovation Challenge Finalist
StartUp Health company Sense Health and startup Wellframe were selected from a great group of 5 companies to be the top two finalists for the Merck HPN Innovation Challenge in NYC. Both finalists were awarded $20K of funding for new pilots and will be advancing to the next stage of the challenge.

Healthcare Transformers to Take the Stage at SXSW
StartUp Health companies will be all over SXSW this March. AdhereTech and Yingo Yango were selected as finalists from over 500 applicants to demo at the SXSW Accelerator Pitch Competition!
