Exam Period

I just finished my last exam for the semester, thanks be to God I think everything went well. Even though philosophy is definitely fascinating and I enjoy the investigation its not easy confining myself to books. I know my studies are a huge investment for my ministry which is why I take it with a great deal of Faith and seriousness. Each priest needs to know how to search and find the truth for his own life if he is going to be able to help others find it for theirs. (FYI: Even if no photo of me studying exists I promise I do study! This photo is what the computer room looks like the morning a paper is due.)

Fraternal Life

Last week some brothers and I made home made cinnamon rolls for all 350 of us! I was the dough boy and my arms were about ready to fall off after I was done. It is such a joy and a necessity to live religious life as a family. We are not 350 bachelors living together, we are brothers that want to serve others and serve each other which occasionaly means cinnamon rolls but also means challenging each other to live a more holy life each day. I try as much as possible to inspire my brothers but I know for sure that they inspire me.

The Renewal of the Legion

Right now our religious congregation is in a period called general chapter. A general chapter is normally held at an interval of six years and is a time for elected representatives and the superiors of the congregation to meet and discuss items pertaining to the congregation as well as elect new leadership. This particular general chapter is important for us since it will present to Pope Francis a renewed version of our constitions which came about after 3 years of personal and community reflections. I ask you to keep our whole religious family in your prayers in these important moments so that we may be able to serve the Church with a renewed spirit. You may find more information on the chapter's website.

Why Did Jesus Choose Fishermen?

There are two types of people in this world. Those that are fishermen and those that wish they were.  Now that I have offended half of my readers I would like to say that I don’t think it’s any coincidence that most of Jesus’ disciples were fishermen. If you indulge me a few moments I would like to tell you why I think this is so. Read Full Article
