The FASD Elephant Relaunch!

Hi! This is Michael Harris, and I sincerely thank you for your interest in the newsletter and all things FASD (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder).
This is an exciting year so far, because I'm relaunching the whole website with more podcasts (see "Preventing FASD" below), more blog posts ("A Little Light in the Tunnel"), and more resources at FASDElephant.com for YOU.
So, Welcome to the Newsletter that Starts it Off!

Jody Allen Crowe and FASD PreventionPreventing FASD

Jody Allen Crowe has a lot of great ideas

Mr. Crowe is the Executive Director of Healthy Brains for Children in Eagan, MN, but he started as a teacher and educator in the 1980s, when he first learned of FASD. Since those "early" years, he's been very active in developing actionable prevention strategies.

Two Recent Achievements

In 2008, Jody published A Fatal Link, sharing his journey of understanding the effects of prenatal alcohol exposure and high cost potential of ignoring prevention.
More recently, he's the guy in the news behind the "Think Before You Drink" campaign, which places pregnancy test dispensers in bar restrooms...

Wow. I eventually caught myself wishing for that. Both experience and my brain tell me that wishing is simply a waste of time for a foster parent. But the very next day, I was wishing again! This time that we could be early for once without rushing in late… [Click to continue reading my blog post]

Aeon, Our Sleepy Cat

Complete My Survey for a Prize Drawing Entry...

For the new year, I’ve challenged myself to quit “laying around” and finish writing those books about FASD.
If you
click on the photo of our cat, Aeon, you'll be taken to a quick survey on which FASD book topics you wish existed.
This will help me focus on what folks need and want, so I can get them finished and out there.
There's a random prize drawing on February 5, 2014 as a thank you for everyone who's participated!
Here's the Survey Link Again
Thanks! ~Michael

PS/You can sign up to pre-read and review my book chapters, too, if you're interested.
