Our Favorite Super Bowl Recipes

We'll have plenty of bratwurst, pork ribs, and chicken leg quarters at market this weekend, plus pork sausage for our favorite of all recipe: Sausage Stuffed Jalapeños. They're awesome. Scroll down for some recipes and links to recipes!

Sausage Stuffed Jalapeños: Amazingly delicious and really easy.

Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground pork sausage
- 1 8-oz package cream cheese
- 1 cup shredded parmesan
- 1 lb (or about 15 individual) jalapeños, halved lengthwise and seeded.

Directions:
  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
  2. Place sausage in a skillet over medium heat, and cook until evenly brown. Drain grease.
  3. In a bowl, mix the sausage, cream cheese, and Parmesan cheese. Spoon about 1 tablespoon sausage mixture into each jalapeno half. Arrange stuffed halves in baking dishes. You can sprinkle a little extra Parmesan on top of each jalapeño if you'd like.
  4. Bake 20 minutes, until bubbly and lightly browned.

BBQ Pork Ribs
Ribs are often intimidating, but they can actually be very simple to cook! Yes, if you really want the most amazing ribs ever, then you should probably smoke them.  But if you just want some really amazing ribs, then make this super easy recipe!  It involves a marinade, a rub, and some time in the oven (then some searing on the grill). Prep time - 15 mins. Cook time is long, but it doesn't take any work to leave some ribs in the oven for a few hours!  This recipe is a great place to start your love of home-cooked ribs.

Our Favorite Chicken Rub - try it on our chicken leg quarters or drumsticks for an awesome game day meal!
From The Best of America’s Test Kitchen 2012. This dry-rub glazes beautifully, has just enough kick, and seals in moisture for a juicy yet crispy, unbeatable combination. Serves 4-6.

Ingredients:
3 lbs chicken pieces (breasts, leg quarters, drums)
3 tbsp packed dark brown sugar
2 tsp each chili powder & paprika
1 1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp each dry mustard, onion powder, salt
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

Directions:
1.Combine all ingredients (besides chicken). Then, set aside half of the rub.
2.Pat chicken dry with paper towels and coat on all sides with half of the rub.
3.Cook on medium-low heat on grill, skin side down until skin is well browned and crisp (15-20 minutes).
4. Flip chicken, skin side up and coat with remaining half of rub. Continue to grill until rub melts into glaze and breasts register 160° F and thighs/drums read 175° F.

Bratwurst
You can't go wrong with a fancy hot dog! You can just throw our bratwurst on the grill or in a pan for 10-12 minutes (turning to brown all sides), or the classic way to do bratwurst ... is to boil them in beer before grilling. See below!

Ingredients:
8 brats
1 large onion, diced
4 (12-oz) cans of beer
2 tsp red pepper flakes
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper

Directions:

  1. Preheat an outdoor grill for medium-high heat. When hot, lightly oil grate.
  2. Combine the beer and onions in a large pot; bring to a boil. Poke some holes in the bratwurst so they don't bust. Submerge the bratwurst in the beer; add the red pepper flakes, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Reduce heat to medium and cook 10 to 12 minutes. Remove the bratwurst from the beer mixture; reduce heat to low, and continue cooking the onions.
  3. Cook the bratwurst on the preheated grill, turning once, 5 to 10 minutes. Serve with the beer mixture as a topping or side.
