Reporting and Resting

Two Months in the States

Home Assignment

I'm really looking forward to this 2-month visit! Calling it a furlough or sabbatical makes me look lazy, so let's call it home assignment. It's long overdue, and I'll do my best to report on the past 3 years; if you'll meet with me. The family is already in Korea, I'll be there this Wednesday and stay for a week before heading to LAX. You can see our itinerary here. I'm really looking forward to this 2-month visit.

Please continue to pray for Thailand as we hit the controversial election day today. Here's a recent update of the protests from BBC. Violence is increasing steadily, and may continue even after the election since the election process will not go well with all the shooting going on. I just hope the airports will remain open unlike 4 years ago when similar protests were going on.

NYPC

The English congregation from NYPC (Rev. Daevid Yoon and team) came during the protests and really was a blessing to my ministry partners in Bangkok as well as the neighborhood of Suanphung in Ratchaburi province. They served the Christian village of the Karen hilltribe people, and also taught English in the local high school. Pictured above is the team with the Karen pastor visiting the high school the day before teaching. No one was hurt during this exciting transportation event.

Take 5-6 minutes to see their third Youtube video here. I especially appreciated their visit not only because they came during unstable political circumstances despite my repeated warnings of random bombings, but also because they came on their own; it was not an official church-sponsored team, which was the only time I went on mission trips as a pastor myself (so I didn't have to use my own money or time).

OLC and Rahab

Praise God for His servants who are involved with OLC and Rahab. Todd and Karen Indehar will continue to lead the Rahab Bible studies; and my friends, John and Cyndi diPilato are visiting just for the 2-3 months I'm gone, so they'll lead my evening sessions for OLC while Todd continues the noon sessions. We're really excited about serving the downtown community of Bangkok, and the Indehars and I are praying about focusing more on these groups in the future.

Please:
