Update from Ricot in Haiti
Written by: Ricot
Living on the mission field has its challenges but for the most part, we find joy and peace that surpasses all understanding. A team of 12 visited us over Christmas and New Years to organize a Christmas party for the children in our town--Huge Success! Each child received a hot meal of rice and beans and chicken.
We got together with our church and community friends to celebrate Christmas, it was a blast. There was a lot of laughter, games, gifts exchange and we shared a meal together. Lifetime memories!
We’ve been having vehicle troubles since the 2010 earthquake when our truck got damaged. The Ministry of Faith In Action Inc. lent us their van but lately, it has been in shop with transmission problem. Such reduced us to a 150cc motorbike!!! Nothing looks more amusing than to see a missionary family of four (4) on one motorbike going to church. God is good! A friend noticed HFH’s need for a new vehicle, he donated ‘not one, but two vehicles for the service of the Lord.’ Amen to that! Pray for the $10,000 shipping and custom fees please!
Refreshed
Sometimes I wonder if 24hrs in a day or 7 days in a week is suffice to do what needs to be done; My wife often reminds me that it is more than enough. The bible also talks about the importance of taking a break, ‘The Sabbath!”
In February, the missionary community in our area organized a 3 days retreat... It was so wonderful to be able to step away from the everyday activities and spend time talking, praying, learning, and of course, refreshing.
Our kids enjoyed learning the different bible stories in English and jumping in the pool during break time. It was a great blessing to us all.
The rain falls on the righteous and on the wicked
Matthew 5:45
At our church here in Haiti for the beginning of the year, we declared that the year 2014 would be a year of Harvest for those who were willing to do the hard work. Spiritual harvest for those who would take the time to go deeper in the Word; Financial harvest for those who would be willing to put in the hours; and harvest in every way of life only if...
We are amazed to see the amount of rain showers we’ve had since the beginning of January and it is encouraging to see many working hard in their gardens and are expecting a great Harvest.
We just completed a seven days evangelism crusade in our community and we believe that heaven rejoiced over the harvest of thirty five people who received Christ and six others got baptized.
Our main focus as we returned to Haiti in October was to build an erosion control canal on the property. A team from a small church in Alberta showed up and together we worked. The project is not 100% done but we have a pretty good control of the water. Please pray with us that we will be able to raise $22,000 to complete this project.
A team from British Columbia also joined us as we built our security building. Supervision control is a must where we live.
Prayer Requests
Pray for our children, Isabelle and Josiah, they both have had a rough start in their health this year. Also pray for the newest member of our family; God gave us Audlaine who is 7 years old to raise and cherish. We look forward as we educate her in the ways of the Lord.
Since the erosion is under control, please pray that the funds will come so we can start with the construction of the multi-purpose building soon.
There are many young orphans who must leave the orphanages because of their age, please pray that we will be able to welcome and train them soon that our campus is ready.
Please pray that HFH will continue to be a light in the middle of darkness in this land!
Some people in our congregation are sick, please pray for God’s intervention in their lives.
