Lesson 162: Knowing God's Will, Part 4
Rom.14:5-8 One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind.
The one who observes the day, observes it in honor of the Lord. The one who eats, eats in honor of the Lord, since he gives thanks to God, while the one who abstains, abstains in honor of the Lord & gives thanks to God.
For none of us lives to himself, & none of us dies to himself. For if we live, we live to the Lord, & if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord's.
We must remain true to the convictions we have developed.
Rom.14:23 whoever has doubts is condemned if he eats, because the eating is not from faith. For whatever is not from faith is sin.
How do we destroy the strength of sinfulness in our lives? We also need commitment. Most of us fail at this point: am I willing to give up this unholy habit?
Luke 14:33 any one of you who does not surrender all that he has cannot be my disciple.
We like to play with the sin: just one more lustful look, just one more dessert before my diet.
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
