Holiness, Godliness, Usefulness

Lesson 167: When to Study Scripture
Deut.6:7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.
Progress in holiness depends on having discipline to spend regular time in God’s Word. There is no other way, no shortcut. Satan always attacks us in this area.
In the morning, he whispers “You need more rest.” During the day, he whispers “You’re too busy.” At night, he whispers “You’re too tired.”
There never seems to be a good time. This means we have to develop the discipline to make time for God in our daily calendar.
We always make time for the things that are most important to us. Scripture is a priority.
Once we have a planned time, we need a planned method to get the Bible into our brain.
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
