FISH HOEK PRE-PRIMARY NEWS FLASH-25 Feb 2014
Dear Moms and Dads
For the last two years Fish Hoek Pre-Primary has been supporting a preschool in Masiphumelele. The name of the school is Rainbow Educare.
The school looks after, cares for and educates 50-60 children from 3months to 6years.
Cornelia, a delightfully warm and passionate lady, runs the centre and has a teaching staff of 3 who help her.
Throughout the past two years FHPPS has been assisting Cornelia and her teachers with educational (indoor and outdoor)ideas, teaching strategies, educational materials and art materials. We invite a teacher with 10 of her children to visit our school on the last Thursday of every month, which has proven most successful, in that the teachers from Rainbow Educare are able to watch our teachers in action and gain valuable in site into our school programme.
We would like to continue our ‘Food for a Friend’ initiative that was started last year.
Each Wednesday we ask the parents to pack in an extra sandwich etc that is put in the’ Mandela box’ and taken to Rainbow Educare. We would like to however, collect different things each month, such as fruit, or sandwiches, or yoghurt, or biscuits etc. we will let you know in the newsletter the item to be collected that month.
If any moms or dads would like to offer to take the food items through to Masi on a Wednesday, please let me know. We would like to form a little group who can help with this project. We also need moms or dads to offer to lift once a month, when the children come to our school for their visit. We fetch them at 8.30am and take them back at 12.45/1pm. I will have a roster up at the gate for parents who would like to offer to put their names on.
Currently Robynne, a parent in the Starfish class takes food up to the school on a Wednesday. You can also chat to her about the school and where you can help.
We will also occasionally let you know about items that the school is looking for such as glass to replace a broken window pane, or bark in the garden, or wood for shelving etc. I’ll put this information into the newsletter.
Rainbow Educare staff and parents will be assisting us on occasions at our fundraising functions and a small portion of the fee to rent our school for parties will be going towards a fundraising fund for Rainbow Educare to help them raise much needed funds for their school.
If you can help in any way, please do not hesitate to chat to me or Robynne (082 216 2677).
Kind Regards
Paula Wickham (0845682771)

Hi All
Our school fridge has finally given up the ghost. If anyone has a fridge in good condition that we could buy, or if anyone has a contact where we could purchase a new fridge, please let Jane or myself know. Thanks!
