Throughout our years of making art together, we have met many amazing people, businesses and organizations. Many of these allies have helped our communities make great art. One such business is
Ozery Bakery. They are a successful business whose simple motto "Happy People Baking" has taken them from the back of a sandwich shop in Toronto to across Canada and the US. Their commitment to giving our bodies
the best possible fuel is not unlike Art Starts commitment to providing our communities the best possible programs; programs selected by our communities and co-designed for the positive outcome that they dictate.
Our relationship with
Ozery Bakery developed when our Director of Development and Finance, Tamara Haberman, met with Alon Ozery. When Tamara first visited in September of 2012, it was immediately apparent that they were
Art Starters. The lobby of the Ozery factory featured an impressive, beautiful painting that Tamara was immediately drawn to. Their factory revealed to us how much they really are creative,
happy people baking. The bakers care about their product and their product's physical impact, which is why Pita Break's healthy and hearty pitas quickly become a hit with the community. It was clear to us that, like Art Starts, Ozery Bakery is committed to having a positive impact on people's well-being and their communities.
Through their generous product donations, which have included over 100 bags of freshly baked pita packages, we have provided healthy snacks to the kids and youth in our programs throughout 2013. Pita Break also sponsored an event, helping us to celebrate the accomplishments of all our participants. Our youth have said that
"the pitas are always delicious!" and program managers across our neighbourhoods appreciate the amazing quality products and the consistent reliable involvement. Former Villaways Project Director Myra Leibu says
"Because of Ozery I knew I could offer kids really good and healthy snacks throughout our Up & Rooted community kitchen project. Even more impressively, Lisa D'ambrosio from Ozery came out to our event and supported the kids and their work. I couldn't ask for more positive and community minded sponsors." We are really proud of our relationship with Ozery Bakery and look forward to strengthening it in the years to come.
