Wine o' the Week

2005 Ardevol
"Como d'en Romeu"

Priorat
Catalunya, Spain

 40% Cabernet Sauvignon
30% Merlot
20% Syrah
10% Grenache

"...delivers smoke, mineral, blueberry, black cherry, and blackberry liqueur aromas and flavors in its full-bodied personality. Youthful on the palate with layers of ripe fruit and a firm structure, the wine has tannin to lose. Cellar it for 3-4 years and drink it through 2020. 92 Points Jay Miller, Wine Advocate (Steven Tanzer IWC rated in 91)

In my opinion, Priorat is the "Bordeaux" region of Spain because of its aging ability and focus on varietals...and as most of you who know me, Spain is my favorite wine producing country. The wines are always well made and really overproduce when it comes to their value and their finesse when it comes to matching them with food.

This wine is no different and is drinking phenomenally with 28 months of oak barreling, almost 8 years of bottle age & nearly four months in our cellar.

$45/bottle (as usual, I have a few bottles of this little Spanish gem and they are available on a first come first serve basis).

Hayward Williams

at the Bourgie Nights Lounge

Saturday, February 22nd.
8pm & 10pm

"Undoubtedly, Hayward possesses one of the most haunting & amazing voices you will ever hear. Possesses is an appropriate description in more ways than one, as it will politely, yet forcefully take over the room, beckoning your ears to listen intently. Even as this is taking place, there is never a point where we ask for it to stop. We will yearn for it to continue and weep as it wanders off to the next place."

BEER DINNER

Thursday,
March 6th, 2014

6pm

We are excited to be involved with Foothills Brewing Company (Winston Salem) in coordinating our 3rd Beer Dinner. Here are the details:

Five Beers/Four Courses
$65/person
Reception Beverage: Carolina Blonde
1st Course: Torch Pilsner
2nd Course: Hoppyum IPA
3rd Course: Barrel Aged People's Porter
4th Course: Sexual Chocolate Imperial Stout

Jameson and the kitchen crew will be finalizing the menu, utilizing the freshest ingredients that we can procure with accenting the profile of each beverage with culinary flair.

Those who know Foothills Brewing are absolutely freaking out due to the simple fact that Sexual Chocolate is being offered--this is likely the most highly allocated and sought after beer in their portfolio and one of the top "wish list" beers in the state. AND we'll have it on draft. WHAT?

(910)-763-5252 to RSVP your seat(s)

Barrel Program: 3.0

We've completed our third run of barrel aged cocktails and spirits. Ian has perfected the Vieux Carre in a 5 liter barrel.  This classic New Orleans based cocktail is composed of Rye whiskey, Cognac, sweet vermouth, Peychaud's bitters, Angostura bitters, Benedictine.

If you prefer a simpler libation, I've barreled a 2 liter classic Gin Martini with two parts
Broker's gin, one part Vya Dry Vermouth and a tablespoon of orange bitters.

Both of the drinks have been in the barrel for 3 weeks and the wood tends to calm down the "alcohol" allowing the ingredients to blend seamlessly with one another.

Come give one of these bad boys a "shot."
