Hillsborough County’s first African-African American Civil Service employee, Maxine Douglas, will be honored with the Legacy Award during the  22nd Annual Black Heritage Celebration on Thursday, February 27 from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. in Joe Chillura Courthouse Square (corner of Pierce and Kennedy) in downtown Tampa.

The Board of County Commissioners presented the 2014 Florida Strawberry Queen (Jessi Rae Varnum), her Plant City Court and festival organizers with a proclamation recognizing February 27 – March 9 as the 2014 Florida Strawberry Festival Days.
