LNA Newsletter - February 2014

One of the goals of the Lakeshore Nonprofit Alliance is to promote and connect our members with the very best in nonprofit resources.  In this month's newsletter I wanted to highlight 3 resources in particular:
  • I am often asked for Best Practices when it comes to nonprofit management (Governance, HR, Evaluation, Financial Management, etc...).  Check out this great resource that we link to on our website: Nonprofit and Philanthropy Good Practice.
  • Looking for low cost hardware/software or just struggling to make good decisions about information technology for your nonprofit?  TechSoup is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a focus: connecting your nonprofit, charity, or public library with technology products, plus the free learning resources you need to make informed decisions about technology.
  • We introduced the concept of Learning Circles at our last Nonprofit Next Event as a way to help nonprofit professionals learning from one another.  We are looking to launch several groups over the next few months and wanted to highlight the first "circle" around Fundraising.  The Lakeshore Development Group meets regularly on the 2nd Thursday of every month for breakfast (7:45am at Alpen Rose in Holland). Contact Deb Hekman (dhekman@crosswindsgroup.com) for more information.

What's New with the Shared Technology Model?
We hosted a meeting on February 10th with roughly 20 interested nonprofits to present a more detailed outline of technology support that will be offered to local nonprofits.  We are moving forward with this plan and scheduling technology audits for interested member organizations (nominal fee involved).  If you would like to see the matrix outlining the proposed levels of service or schedule an audit, contact me at patrick@lakeshorenonprofits.org.

Thank you to all for what you do for this community,
