LAST Conference. Feb 2014 news

This time around, we decided to wait until the mercury dropped below 35º before sending word that LAST Conference is back for 2014.

July 2014

It's going to be a Friday in July, but we still have to confirm this with Swinburne. They've got a bit of shenanigans going on concerning moving things over from their Prahran campus, and the scheduling department

Our advice is block out the Fridays between the 4th and 25th of July, so you make sure that you don't miss out on coming this year.

We'll be trying different things/buildings in this version, based upon our experiences from last time.

Submit a session idea

Once again, we are looking for practitioners who can run a session, and once again, the emphasis will be on participation and interaction.

Last year, our approach was to overload the senses, so this year we are leaning towards a "less is more" approach.

We are looking for:
  • Talks that run for up to 30 minutes. We are taking the stance that you should be able to get your strongest points across in this time.
  • Lightning Talk sessions. Blocks of up to 10 minute talks with even more focus, or new ideas you just want to get out there, or a chance to get involved for the first time.
  • Workshops. Do you have an activity or game that you've come across that you want to share, or try? Duration is up for discussion.
Open Space Sessions. We plan to have an opportunity for people to have more of a say about the topics in talks. The idea is for participants at LAST to construct your own agenda. Read more about Open Space.

If you ran a session in 2013, do you know anyone that you would recommend, for this year's event? We're keen to get new voices out there. Of course, if you have a burning desire to volunteer again, that's OK too.

We have opened up submissions, so go and get onto it. We'll accept submissions until around the end of April. You don't have to have a 100% fully formed idea, especially for the Lightning Talks and Open Space sessions.

Sponsorship

To keep the day affordable, we rely on the generosity of companies who want to show their support for our community. Please let us know, who we can speak to at your company about this.

Did you sponsor LAST in 2013…let's do again? We'll be in touch soon.

Archives

We've archived the 2012 site and the 2013 site, and don't forget that you can still catch up with the sessions, many with video, on the LAST Conference 2012 Lanyrd page and 2013 Lanyrd page.

Meanwhile, we have updated the the main site with info for 2014.

Meetups

Don't forget about the frequent Meetup events that we have via Melbourne Scrum and Agile, Agile Product Owners and Business Analysts, Limited WIP Society, Cynefin groups, and Melbourne Geek Night, amongst others.

You'll often find Ed and Craig, at one of these events, so come and talk to us about LAST Conf…and also ask us about Dare Festival…

Cheers!
