Greetings and welcome to our March issue of Your Community, Your Planet! and we hope you are enjoying the first signs of Spring!

Our projects and services...

Funding success - Glasgow West Area Volunteer Experience project: we are delighted to announce that, in partnership with LINKES (SCIO) and The Whiteinch Centre, we have secured funding from the Voluntary Action Fund for our Glasgow West Area Volunteer Experience (WAVE) project which will develop volunteering acorss the partners and the wider west of Glasgow area. More info soon!

Job Opportunity - Volunteer Development Officer: as part of the Glasgow WAVE project we are currently recruiting for a part-time Volunteer Development Officer. The deadline for applications is midday on Tuesday 25 March (next week!)

Win tickets to the Scottish Bike Show: there is still time to win tickets to the Scottish Bike Show - all you need to do is doante an unwanted bike to De'ils On Wheels before Monday 31 March.

Donate Your Bike Glasgow: working in partnership with several other bike recycling projects from across the city we have set up a simple website - donateyourbikeglasgow.org.uk - to make it easier for people to find out how to donate their unwanted bikes!

Yoker Ferry Road clean up: we recently descended upon Yoker Ferry Road along with the West Glasgow Green Gym and the guys from Fortune Works to give the place a bit of a clean up - we think it looks much better and thanks to everyone that got involved!

Ditch The Dirt anti-dog fouling campaign: last year we co-ordianted local action as part of the national Ditch the Dirt campaign. The dates for the campaign this year will be 1-14 September. We send out regular email updates to over 40 local organisations and representatives - if you want to be added to the mailing list please let us know!

Transition Free Press newspaper: the next issue is due out at the beginning of May and we are one of the distribution agents for the paper and if you would like to get involved in distributing smaller bundles then please get in touch.

Garscadden and Scotstounhill Area Partnership: the next meeting of the Area Partnership will take place on Tuesday 25 March - agenda otems include Neighbourhood management, the SIngle Outcome Agreement and the area profile and action plan. The papers are available on the Council website.

Other news...

Recycle for Scotland website and poster creator: a new website has been set up to encourage more people to recycle at home, work and school. It also features a really useful poster creator to help you create a range of recycling posters.

Glasgow residents energy and environment survey: the Council is calling on all residents to have their say about energy and the environment. The deadline for responding to the survey is Monday 7 April.

STEP UP consultation report published: following on from the recent survey about developing a new Energy and Carbon Master Plan for Glasgow the Council have published their STEP UP consultation report.

Energy Advice in Whiteinch and Scotstoun: Whiteinch and Scotstoun Housing Association have a new project aimed at providing their tenants with home energy advice.

West Glasgow Green Gym seeks leaders and volunteers: the Green Gym, a local gardening and environmental group, are currently seeking people who would like to train as leaders and also for new members to join the group.

New bike racks on Dumbarton Road: you may have noticed lots of new bike racks appearing in lots of different places along Dumbarton Road

20 Kingsway Court - going, going, gone...: last week saw the completion of the demolition of 20 Kingsway Court. We've been capturing the process in pictures over the past few months!
