It’s February. For most of us we are ready for some warmer weather. Some people got way too much frozen precipitation and others didn’t get enough.

Bordelon and Stout Lead Wilson Award List
The selection committee is pleased to announce the winners of the 2014 Iain Wilson Character Through Competition Award. This award honors the memory of Iain Wilson by recognizing young athletes whose efforts in orienteering demonstrate this character. This year’s winners, Brigitte Bordelon (AOC, NTOA) and Matthew Stout (GAOC) will each receive a $1,000 travel grant. Isabel Bryant (NEOC) will receive a $500 travel grant. Look for an article on the winners in the March/April issue of Orienteering North America magazine.

Noname to Outfit Team USA
Orienteering USA has announced that it has come to an agreement with Finnish athletic high performance clothing manufacturer Noname to be the uniform supplier for the United States Orienteering Team. Representing almost 100 athletes, Team USA is comprised of Senior, Junior, World University, Mountain Bike, Ski and Trail orienteering squads.

Member Logins
To help make renewing your membership more convenient and to use other online features (like auto-renewal), you can create a login (with a password) to the OUSA membership database if you haven't already. There is also now a 'Member Login' tab right on the OUSA website homepage. You will receive emails to remind you when it's time to renew your membership (online if you wish), in addition to the postcard reminder for those who prefer using checks and stamps. And coming soon - EventReg will use the information (like your SI-card number) in your membership account to make event registration quicker, so keeping your member information up to date will save you time - time and time again!

Paralympic Class: Glenn Cafferty, David Irving and Cathy Yekenevicz.

Have an Olympian at Your June Club Event
Hopefully you have all enjoyed watching the Olympic Winter Games from Sochi.  Did you know that the United States Olympic Committee (of which OUSA is a member) has a program called Olympic Day where a club can have a local Olympian (current or past depending on location) visit their local meet?  The event must be in June. Last year ROC had an Olympic fencer attend their meet. For more information contact Glen.

Seeking Presenters for the OUSA Convention
The OUSA convention will be August 8th at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. While the program is taking shape now, if you have a topic you would like to present contact Glen.

Junior Team News
Don’t forget to sign up for the Northeast Junior Training Camp. The camp will be held March 28-30 at Blue Mountain Reservation in Peekskill, NY.
Also the Junior Executive Committee has adopted the United States Olympic Committee’s SafeSport program aimed at educating against misconduct.  The online tutorial is free to all and consists of informative online videos. It is a great free resource for clubs as well. Contact Glen on how to sign up.

Club News - Charter Forms Past Due
A few clubs have not gotten their Charter Renewals in. Without those renewals, your club does not come under the Orienteering USA insurance umbrella. Land owners may demand to see proof of insurance and without this insurance, you won't have it and your club is at risk.
