Spring is upon us, and with it comes a new season of writing workshops offered by The Reader Berlin. Having taken a poetry workshop in the fall, I can say that the seminars are sure to connect you to interesting and talented writers, and to give you added incentive to focus on your own work.
If you're eager for feedback before workshops begin, Shakespeare & Sons is hosting a Works-in-Progress night later this week; in the inspiration department, Berlin Fellow Leslie Dunton-Downer will be speaking at the American Academy about her chance encounter with a singer in Tajikistan and the memoir the meeting inspired.

Announcing Spring Writing Workshops
The Reader Berlin's New Courses for March 2014
The Reader Berlin has just opened registration for a new season of evening courses. Beyond creative writing workshops, this season's selection includes a brand new course called Kafka Through Translation, taught by the award-winning writer and translator Bill Martin. Courses typically last 7 weeks, take place on weekday evenings, and cost around 120 Euros.

Listening to Rumi: A Personal Odyssey
A Presentation by Berlin Fellow Leslie Dunton-Downer
On the eve of September 11, 2001, Leslie Dunton-Downer was in Tajikistan, where she heard a Central Asian Muslim musician singing Rumi. Her encounter with the singer had far-reaching effects and is the subject of her memoir-in-progress. On Thursday, February 27, at 7:30pm, at the American Academy, Dunton-Downer will speak about her experience in light of current NSA spying activities. Details and registration here.
