Wilderness and Stepping Stones

As we prepare for our wilderness experience in July, we will take some time to look at "wilderness" through different sets of lenses. In the last email, we discussed the 50th anniversary of the Wilderness Act and what "wilderness" means from an environmental and spiritual perspective. You can read that email by clicking here.

An element of the wilderness that is recognizable to Peak Challenge men is an identifiable trail to the top of a 14er. Some of the trail is dirt or rocks that you must find a route through. Other portions are a series of rock steps or "stepping stones" that have been moved into place by Forest Service personnel or organizations like the Colorado 14ers Initiative (CFI).

Countless hours and a lot of strain and sweat were expended in order to build those stepping stone sections that you see on most 14er trails. We thank them for giving us an easier route to the top and for keeping us on the trail and not trampling the tundra that surrounds the trail. CFI's goal is to "ensure that every 14er has at least one sustainable summit route to minimize impacts to the surrounding alpine terrain."

If you are a man that is a bit older and further along in your journey with Jesus, you are a "stepping stone" to younger men - an extremely important calling.

Jesus chose young people to change the world. He used wilderness as the classroom and adventure to produce transformed lives. We are called as "stepping stones" to set a clear and discernible trail and to provide some assistance in getting to the summit. The shaping and transforming that God has done in your life has prepared you to be rolled into place on that trail so that younger men can walk along the trail with confidence. God uses Peak Challenge to help accomplish that.  Men helping younger men
ready to set sail into our communities and the world with ideas, vision and hope in Jesus.

As you consider hiking this summer, we hope that God will use this "stepping stone" analogy to have you look around your circle of influence and see if there is a young man that would benefit from coming to Peak Challenge.

Invite cards. We have lots of them for you to use! This is just a partial look at the front and back of the card. If you want some to hand out to friends, relatives, neighbors and co-workers - let us know!

One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”

“The most important one,” answered Jesus, â€œis this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God will all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: ' Love all your neighbors as yourself'" --  Mark 12:28-31 NIV with edits

Coming soon.... we will introduce you to some of the leaders that will be sharing messages at Peak Challenge. These video introductions will be designed to have you get to know them and catch their passion for what happens at Peak Challenge.

As always...... got friends? Invite them by forwarding this Enewsletter, sending them to the Peak Challenge website or give them an invite card. One simple act could impact a man or young man forever.
