Several years ago an old law school friend invited me to a social event introducing the work of International Justice Mission (IJM). My friend told me this group, comprised mostly of lawyers and founded by a former Department of Justice lawyer, bravely took on the great injustices of our time (e.g., child prostitution, slavery, and other forms of violent oppression), freed and rehabilitated victims, and helped prosecute the perpetrators.
