Roster Announcement
We will be populating the roster for March to the end of the season in time for the next Newsletter. If you find your name on a date you are already committed to, please find another club member to swap with and then advise sail@frenchbay.org.nz

Thanks to those members who've already volunteered the dates they are available and willing to help - it makes roster planning very much easier.

Firstly thanks to the home team of Donna, Marilize, Paddy, Sam and Alistair for feeding the large gathering on Friday. Special thanks to Bronwen and Leonie for a very interesting talk on the activities of the www.mhrs.org.nz. Be sure to do the survey and to consider becoming a member to support the cause. If you need any further convincing about why the MHRS needs your support and action take a look at the picture below which arrived on our beach this week.

2014 FBYC Regatta

Sunday 2nd March Poster and NOR have been published ... please invite your friends! We need all hands on deck to support this event as we are likely to have 60+ boats attending. This week's update: With thanks to Strategic Insurance

Junior Sail Auckland

Starlings: Meg and Logan in the top 10, well done you two. Optis: Gavin and Abby inside the top 5, with Gavin winning the Green fleet (pic below) Woo Hoo! Great to see the results coming from the extra effort put into training!

Be sure to keep up the fitness programs during the week. Thanks to the RIB support team.

Coaching - I'm confused!

We understand that there's been some confusion over recent coaching events, so for the benefit of new members here is how we will present information in the newsletter prior to coaching days:
LTS - Learn to Sail ... kids who've completed their HLTS course and are in the learn to sail (level 1) or skills improved (working towards level 2). Generally these sailors use the club's plastic training Optis.
LTR - Learn to Race...kids who have passed Level 1 and 2 and have started level 3. These are sailors who have passed both Level 1 and 2, have their own Optimists and are working on their racing skills but have yet to commit to the Squad.
Opti Squad - sailors who are part of the Force Racing Optimist race training squad.
Youth Squad - sailors who are part of the Force Racing Starling/Laser race training squad.
In future we will identify which group/s are being coached on a particular Saturday to avoid any confusion.

French Bay Kids Day

Sat 22nd March @3pm (after coaching). This afternoon is for kids between 7-10 who live locally to come down to the club and come out for a quick sail to see what it's like. You can speak to FBYC's hot opti squad who are a few years ahead of you and see what a fun time they are having choosing sailing as a sport.

Maraetai Regatta 29 Mar

More info here, Green Fleet and Open Fleet for Optis, class starts for Lasers, Starlings and Jollies. Always a great day out for the family and we need a strong FBYC turnout for the individual and team prizes.

Don't forget your suncream this weekend!
