CELEBRATE CRYSTAL BRIDGES AND
THE TULSA – BENTONVILLE ART SCENE
SEPTEMBER 11-14, 2014
Bentonville, Arkansas, is the home of Crystal Bridges, a remarkable art museum founded by Alice Walton and designed by the internationally renowned architect Moshe Safdie. It is one of the most exciting new private museums in the country. On September 13, the museum will open State of the Arts: Discovering American Art Now, an exhibition that is the culmination of a year-long process that began with a focus on some 10,000 American artists and included more than 1,200 hours of in-studio interviews and thousands of miles logged by the curators conducting the primary research. The result of this unprecedented journey is a one-of-a-kind exhibition that draws from every region of the United States and offers an unusually diverse and nuanced look at today’s American culture through the work of more than 100 contemporary artists.
Contemporary Collectors will not only enjoy the opening celebration of State of the Arts, we will fly into Tulsa for museum and private collection visits; make an amazing discovery trip to nearby Bartlesville to tour Frank Lloyd Wright’s only high-rise, Price Tower; visit artists and collectors in Bentonville, climb the mountain (in the bus!) to picturesque Eureka Springs, Arkansas, to visit the fabulous E. Fay Jones Thorncrown Chapel – named the fourth best building by an American architect in the 20th century by the AIA; and stay in the midst of a cutting- edge contemporary art collection at the new 21C Museum Hotel, while we dine on the sumptuous fare of chef Matthew McClure at The Hive!
