Time for MBAs to Get Some Respect? They Raise Largest Funding Rounds from VCs
Given all the debate about the value of an MBA at a startup, we took a look at education demographics in part 2 of our Venture Capital Human Capital Report to compare founders with MBAs vs. MS degrees. And the news is good for MBAs as founding teams with MBAs are very common amongst VC-backed internet companies. More interestingly, MBAs raise more per funding round. Perhaps that intimacy with DCF analysis and Porter's Five Forces pays off when it comes to raising venture money?

Financings Rebound with Texas Coming in at 2. New York Drops from Top 5.
114 companies received $362.9M in financing during the week ended July 31, 2010. This was a nice increase over last week's abysmal activity. Cali maintained its top spot followed by Texas and Massachusetts which re-entered the top five after a 2 week hiatus.
