Far more than just another festival, the Green Gathering is a real life showcase of renewable energy and off-grid technology. Authentically uncommercial and family friendly, our aim is to turn people on to low-impact living. A festival beyond hedonism, for people who love the earth enough to want to celebrate it, and save it.

     More than music;
         a community
      and an education

On the first weekend in August, in the grounds of a ruined neo-classical country house, surrounded by woodland with stunning views of the rivers Wye and Severn, and in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, you'll find:
folk, funk, punk and soul; poetry, comedy and art; dance, traditional medicine, ancient wisdom and crafts; campaigns to put right current injustices and practical skill-sharing for sustainable futures.

  Art can make ideas fly

The Green Gathering has a history - stretching back decades - entwined with the Green and Peace movements, Glastonbury Festival, Stonehenge and Climate Camp. We've been through ups and downs, grown big, been busted and gone back to our roots. Join us, in 2014, at the original off-grid festival.

EQUINOX CELEBRATION:
In sunny spirits, we decided to stick with the New Year bargain ticket price of £80 - all the way through March!
So, you have just a couple of weeks to order and pay for your tickets before the price goes up on April 1st.
Be a swift March Hare, not an April Fool ;)

LIVE MUSIC
To headline The Green Gathering on Thursday 31st July - kicking off the festival with gusto, having enthusiastically agreed to fit us in between a gig in North Wales and one in Cornwall - we have.....
the ludicrously energetic 3 DAFT MONKEYS with their sophisticated-yet-delirious acoustic folk-punk and "irresistable dizzy danceability".

We've also confirmed the indefatigable Rory MacLeod, a one man soul band, poet and storyteller with a smile as infectious as his tunes, and tales of nomadic derring-do that never fail to capture the imagination.

Hattie Hatstar - favourite of the Big Green Gathering and Glastonbury Green Fields - will be making a welcome appearance at The Green Gathering this year. With quirky comedy and poetic passion in abundance, Hattie can entertain everyone: "kids and wayward teenagers; parents, grannies, punks, party heads and radio 4 listeners". Her evil twin sister is charming too...

Last but not least of today's exciting line-up announcements, we have Billy Rowan, formally known as The Undercover Hippy. With politically conscious, provocative lyrics and dangerously catchy grooves, Billy Rowan is "on a mission to make people think, laugh and dance simultaneously." Described by one reviewer as "The King Blues meets Cat Empire…on a protest march…at the Edinburgh Fringe", we think Rowan will be right at home on our solar-powered stages.

DJs
Once the Raconteurs have packed up their poems - past pumpkin hour and on the other side of the site from our quiet camping fields - the Forum will transform into a space to dance your socks off (or dance in your socks; anything goes). A different vibe each night...

Booked so far we have Libby Lawes and Gary Clail, with old-skool dance tunes remixed in Hippy Punk Revibe style; and the Love Shack jocks from the wild 'Proper North' with their unique and eclectic mash-up of rock 'n' roll, Northern Soul, funk, punk and disco.

It looks like we'll have a reggae night and some fine electro-swing too... watch the GG website for updates.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
We're still collecting applications for stewarding - contact stewards@greengathering.org.uk or,

SUPPORTING GREEN GATHERING
Switching to Good Energy or Ecotricity? Sign up via this newsletter or the GG website - it won’t cost you extra, and we'll receive a small commission, which will go towards making GG even more green and gorgeous.

GO CAR SHARE
What with us being the original Green festival, we like to encourage folk to jump on trains, buses and bicycles rather than in gas guzzling cars to get to The Green Gathering. If time pressure, mobility issues or poor public transport provision in your area makes that impossible, we recommend GoCarShare. Drivers can find passengers for company and help with fuel costs; non-drivers can hitch a ride without having to stand on a roundabout with a flappy bit of cardboard. We all win.

We hope to see you all at Green Gathering 2014
