CLUB PROJECTS

Donations In Kind update

We've completed filling our two 40 foot shipping containers destined for Cebu this Sunday..  We had such a great number of volunteers making light work in filling these containers. Food was provided and we had fun along the way.

Our containers have electronic medical equipment, medical beds, walkers, wheelchairs, a few toys, and even smaller items such as needles and surgical equipment. Its been a great effort from everyone involved.  Philippines on Sunday. It is destined to helping with a regional hospital in rebuilding efforts due to the aftermath of  Typhoon Haiyan.

Donations in Kind (DIK) is a major recycling operation, that gives suitable goods to people in need, for free and its collected these goods from all over our state to its warehouse.

Whitelion Bailout Party

All proceeds raised on the night will go to Whitelion who help at risk young people in the Australian community to change their lives by providing them with education and practical support.

Houssam Abiad on Entrepreneurship

THoussam Abiad is an outstandingly successful Adelaide-based entrepreneur. With a double-degree in Biomedical Engineering & Health Sciences anda  masters in Business & International Business, he founded the highly successful buisnesses Digimob, Felici Restaurant and MuscleGroup. He is a past winner of the Pride of Austraia Meal, the Governor's Multicultural Award, and twice a winner of the Austtralian Leadership Award. Future Summitt,. In 2010 he ws elected to the Adelaide CDity Council. Is there anything he can't do? Come along and find out.

This year's theme is "Whale of a Time at Warnambool" and features a whale called Seymour.  This memorable, enlightening, informative and entertaining chance for Rotarians, partners and friends to "Engage Rotary - Change Lives.  Following its major redevelopments in 2012, the Lighthouse Theatre retains much of the beauty of the origianl Victorian town hall whilst combining it with the latest theatre technology.

Adelaide's Latin American Fiesta

Capture the sights, sounds and excitement of Latin America through a fascinating and electric mix of dance and entertainment while indulging in cuisine that delivers robust, flavorful and inventive food choices. Following last year's successful event, the Rotary Club of Adelaide Light will again hold the Latin American Fiesta.

COST $10 p.p. $20 for the family

Proceeds from this event will provide living expenses for underprivileged adults students undeertaking their studies in Coluombia's Bogota-Suba district (an area of extreme poverty).

Rotary Club of Hallett Cove - The 2014 Smarts Challenge

Don't miss your change to have fun, impress and win.  This is not your typical quiz night. All funds raised will be used by ROMAC providing urgent medical care for children in developing countries. Great silent auction items and great prizes..

Can't make it?  Well, the Rotary Club of Hallett Cove is collecting unwanted foreign banknotes, and coins to aid ROMAC.  This Rotary year so far they have already raised $231.36 in it's ongoing appeal. Your kind donations can be sent to PO Box 240, PARK HOLME SA 5043 or given to a club member.

Request for volunteers for Solomon Islands

To all Plumbers with a desire to work in an International Humanitarian Team Project.

RAWCS is organizing a team to travel to Munda, Western Province, Solomon Islands to construct a new roof to the outpatients building of the Helena Goldie Hospital.  There will also  be a roof fitted to each of two schools down the lagoon, and a complete water reticulation system for the hospital which will include pipes, tanks, taps and pumps.

The team requires five plumbers to join 20 Rotarian from D9570, NR

Volunteering is he experience of  a lifetime. As usual, volunteers will enjoy the ambiance, the culture, the mate ship, the satisfaction that comes from humanitarian gestures, knowing they are contributing in a project which will not only improve the quality of life but also likely save many if the years ahead.

DATES: The team will leave in the first week of July and spend 14 days away.
COST:  Will be aprox $2,000 per person to cover return air fares. Internal accommodation is provided in Munda. All tools are on site
