Growth conversation enters mainstream

Traditional media outlets in Upstate NY have not paid enough attention to the growth of startup communities in our midst.  We recently had the opportunity to discuss this matter with Vicki Brackens, host of WCNY's Financial Fitness program.  She took up the challenge by devoting a whole hour of her March 6 program to a discussion of the opportunities and barriers facing startup growth in Upstate NY. April is for student (startups)

April is usually the time when our inboxes get crammed with requests for jobs, internships and invitations to career fairs. This spring, the focus definitely seems to be equally divided between seeking an employer and becoming one.  Take for example, the Student e-Ship in CNY event and Upstate NY Tech Career Connection in Ithaca, the student organized Emerging Talk conference in Syracuse, Colgate's Entrepreneur Weekend, and numerous NYS Business Plan regional competitions. Makes you wonder who is actually showing up for class!
