March newsletter- Time to say Goodbye

Dear Friends,

It will be two years in May that I've worked for SSP and it is already time for me to say goodbye. It has been a pleasure working with an incredibly dedicated Board of Directors and teams of volunteers. It was also a wonderful experience to bring the best of community musical theatre to you. Those years have seen big changes: We have been implementing a new policy-based governance model; we are starting to work with corporate sponsors; we are developing new partnerships with other artistic organizations. I want to thank SSP's past and present Board Members for having given me the opportunity to serve, and learn so much in the process.

But the show must go on. Besides our big summer production, SSP's 50th anniversary year will feature a fall show, RENT. It will be presented at the Broadway Theatre in November 2014. We are very excited about this show and the prospect of showcasing another facet of SSP's many talents.

Finally, we are already looking for our 2015 Summer Show Director. Please have a look at the call for Director and show ideas submission.

As usual, you'll find more detailed information in this newsletter - make sure you read it all!

Together, let's Experience Musical Theatre!

Broadway Unplugged

What a great evening of fun we had on February 28 at the Bassment! Everyone could sing to their heart's content the greatest songs from the musicals we love. We even had the visit of the Rt. Hon. Sir Joseph Porter, KCB, First Lord of the Admiralty Himself, right from his visit to H.M.S. Pinafore.
A big thank you goes to The Saskatoon Jazz Society for this partnership; to Wes Froese, pianist and music director, for 3 hours of great music; to everyone, performers and audience, who made this evening truly memorable.
Ian C. Nelson, as Sir Porter.
