Earthquake !

Protect your assets

An earthquake always occurs unexpectedly and sometimes brings devastating impacts, such as fires, road/bridge damages, building collapse, etc. Broken pipes or electricity cables can mean even more hazards on top of any property damages.

Therefore, establishing a complete earthquake early warning system becomes important to prevent any further significant damages to key facilities and services, and allows safeguard of critical assets needed in the aftermath of a quake.
Made in Taiwan, a country that has over 18,500 earthquakes annually, the Seismic Switch GST-43-M is designed to provide effective control of systems in a quake for less than $1,000.

GST-43-M is an advanced earthquake monitor which features a tri-axial MEMS accelerometer and a powerful 16 Bit 80 MHz industrial CPU. The MEMS accelerometer acquires vibration signal using 100 Hz sampling rate. The CPU filters this vibration signal with a digital low pass filter to minimize non-earthquake signals which are above 20 Hz.

One of the key features of the GST-43-M is the special earthquake detection algorithm. GST-43-M uses the STA/LTA algorithm to detect earthquakes. This algorithm eliminates non earthquake vibration. As opposed to traditional earthquake detection algorithms, it uses modern numerical computation software, which carries out real time vector calculations. With automatic zero drifting compensation and high capacity FIFO buffer, it makes the GST-43-M stable and the high speed STA/LTA calculations achieve reliable earthquake detection. The GST-43-M is equipped with 2 digital outputs for emergency auto-reactions.

GST-43-M is not only a seismic switch but also an earthquake intensity indicator. It can display in real time the maximum intensity, maximum vector, tri-axial acceleration and instant tri-axial acceleration. User can pre-set threshold of acceleration for the 2 digital outputs individually in order to protect crucial facilities.

The open connectivity of GST-43-M offers Modbus RTU /TCP protocol to seamlessly connect with PC, PLC and HMI (Human Machine Interface). It can manage up to 3 host simultaneously. This makes it easy to connect with broadcast and disaster prevention systems. It also provides an active connection to server option  which enables it to be deployed in environments with no real IP network.  The GST-43-M internal time is kept within 1 second accuracy using NTP (Network Time Protocol).
