We've helped facilitate lots of exciting changes on Broadway in the past several months, with new businesses, a game-changing hotel, reactivated theaters, and more creative offices.  But the next big change coming to Broadway is happening on the roadway itself.
The Broadway Streetscape plan puts Broadway between 1st and 11th on a road diet, transforming the corridor into a more pedestrian and transit-focused street.
Beginning with a "dress rehearsal" that will be fully implemented by June, the streetscape will be reconfigured to have the following:
- 1 lane of vehicular traffic southbound
- 2 lanes of vehicular traffic northbound
- pedestrian plazas that will act as sidewalk extensions
- planters, tables, benches and ballards that will make pedestrian areas safer and more enjoyable for residents and visitors alike
- consolidated bus stops no longer in the way of traffic flow

Note: Be advised of new traffic patterns and parking bump-outs along Broadway. New lane configurations are now in place, restricting all left hand turns for traffic traveling southbound between 3rd to 11th streets.

For questions, please call the LADOT Broadway Installation Hotline at 213-972-8628.

ShopWalk DTLA, the Historic Core's seasonal shop-eat-play local event, enjoyed its most successful iteration to date on Sunday, February 9th.  Drawing thousands of visitors to the Historic Core, nearly 50 neighborhood businesses participated in the event by offering deals, discounts and in-store events.

Through this most recent ShopWalk, we engaged new partners on the local level like Grand Central Market and Ace Hotel and across Los Angeles city-wide like Fab Counsel, Discover LA and national fashion blog Racked.

Thanks to all who shopped and ate their way through the Historic Core for ShopWalk.

Join us for an even bigger ShopWalk to celebrate late spring early summer fashion and fun on Sunday, May 4th!

The HDBMA (Historic Downtown Building & Merchants Association) has begun hosting Small Business Workshops for our member merchants.

In February, we welcomed Armando Jamjian of Encore Tax Consulting Group to discuss how local businesses, small companies, and building owners can use the many tax incentive programs available in the Historic Core.

Join us on Wednesday, April 2nd at 10am for Make the Most of Social Media.  Enjoy coffee, networking amongst local businesses, and a panel presentation on tips and tricks to maximize your outreach.

On Sun, April 13, 2014, the 2nd Annual Heart of the City 5k will draw hundreds of walkers, runners, and volunteers to the heart of Los Angeles to support Downtown LA's California Hospital Medical Center (CHMC). Registration fees are: $35 for adults; $25 for children 12 & under; a t-shirt is included with each registration, plus fundraising incentives and prizes.

Proceeds from the race will benefit the acquisition of a state-of-the-art CT scanner, and complete renovation of one of the floors in the hospital's patient tower.

We're delighted to share that our name is (once again) the
Historic Core Business Improvement District.

The Historic Core continues to become more and more recognized as an epicenter of culture, art, fashion, shopping and residential life in Los Angeles.  While nearly every city has a historic downtown, the Historic Core is uniquely here, the historical center of Downtown Los Angeles and the birthplace of LA's urban boom.

We are proud to represent this landmark community and are excited to continue supporting the area under our revised name.
Thanks for your support and love of Downtown LA's Historic Core!

Best,
