Make the Time
 

We live in a busy, busy world.  We are always rushing from one thing to the next.  If you are like most of us, you have a long to-do list and a long list of people or things that need your attention.

If you have been putting yourself on the back burner, it’s time to stop.  Don’t think that when “X”  happens, then I’ll have time for me.  As soon as “Y” is over, then I’ll go to the gym.  Right now is the perfect time.  You will be a much better partner, son/daughter, employee, parent, etc. if you are healthy, fit and strong!  Place high value in yourself and make your health and wellness a priority.
Our website (MyStrongerSelf.com) and fitness studio walls (and classes) are full of success stories of busy people who have improved their health and fitness.  Most show a dramatic change in their body, some document improved health with a decrease in medication, and all report much improved fitness and energy.  You owe it to yourself to enjoy the multitude of benefits from regular exercise! Here's just a few:

Lori's Nutrition Tip
 

Ditch the fruit juice and dried fruit.  A glass of apple juice contains the same amount of sugar as a glass of Coke.  (about 12 tsp./glass).  Dried fruit contains 70% sugar.  Fruit is high in sugar.  Eaten whole, with the fiber and water intact, we're able to metabolize the fructose.  But when the fiber or water is removed, in the case of juice and dried fruit, we're left with a heap of sugar that our system simply can't process.  Choose low GI whole fruit, such as berries and kiwi.
 

New RealRyder Classes - Just Added (for a limited time)
 

Tuesdays 6:30pm – Spin ‘N Core – A 60 minute class that includes a sweaty 40 minutes on the bike followed by 20 minutes of intense abs!  Instructor – alternating weeks, Lori Murphy and Joni Radke.

Thursdays 8:30am – Train Ryde – A 45 minute endurance ride especially good for those training for bike tours and triathlons.  Increase your aerobic capacity and stamina!  Instructor – Lori Murphy.

Saturdays  9:15am – An additional session of our popular RealRyder Spin/Jungle Gym class.  A 60 minute class which includes 45 minutes of traditional RealRyder spinning followed by 15 minutes of muscle toning suspension training. Instructor - Lori Murphy.

Tasty Tuna Lettuce Wraps

Who needs bread weighing them down? These tasty tuna lettuce wraps are so much better than a traditional tuna sandwich, and will leave you feeling light and lean. Use wild-caught Albacore Tuna packed in water.

Ingredients: 

1 (5oz) can Albacore Tuna, packed in water 

3 celery stalks, diced
1 Tablespoon relish
2 Tablespoons light mayonnaise
2 teaspoons mustard
2 teaspoons dried dill weed, plus more for garnish
dash of freshly ground pepper
1/2 cup purple cabbage, shredded
4-6 butterhead lettuce leaves, washed

Last year our Fit 4 Life Challenge brought Kathie to My Stronger Self and boy are we glad it did!  She is one of our quieter members, but also one of our most determined.  She rocked the  6 week challenge and although she was pretty small when she walked through the door, she got down to business and placed 3rd in our challenge!

Kathie is no stranger to challenge, she has made great positive strides in her health and fitness all while continuing to work in a bakery!
