Events of November and DecemberChurch Ministry NewsWe continue working at Iglesia Bautista la Fe (Faith Baptist Church) teaching once a week on Sundays. Please pray for the church as the Peruvian pastor has resigned and they have asked the missionary, Gary Whipple, who started the church to come back and help them through this transition. We are helping Pastor Whipple and the church through the transition as they get some things in order before they form a pulpit committee and call a Peruvian pastor. Due to the transition, the preparations for the Christmas program had been put off. I was asked if I could help them get a song ready for the program. Once I agreed, they asked if I could help with putting together a program. We kept it simple but were able to have the choir sing some songs and read passages from the Bible to tell the whole Christmas story, starting with Creation, the fall and therefore the need for a Savior, Christ's birth, death, resurrection and second coming. School Ministry NewsWe held our annual science fair in November. I enjoyed being able to do three simple science demonstrations with spiritual applications for the parents, friends and students before everyone visited the displays and heard the student presentations. The end of the school year programs also give us another avenue to present the gospel to many who would never hear it otherwise. Since the closing ceremonies coincide with Christmas celebrations, it is easy to emphasize the importance of Christ. I had the privilege to present the gospel at the Preschool graduation and the Elementary closing ceremony while another missionary shared during the high school graduation. We know that His word will never return void. When we first came down to Peru in 2011, I took the position of interim administrator at La Molina Christian School. At the end of six months, they asked if I would stay on as the administrator for a couple years and as the 2013 school year came to a close, the school board appointed a Peruvian as the new director of the school. I will continue to assist LMCS with some specific projects but I now have the time to assist other Christian schools as well. I thank the Lord for the opportunity I had to serve at LMCS.
Other Ministry OpportunitiesAs had been done earlier in the year, the Peruvian government held elections. These mandatory elections are always on Sunday and they prohibit public meetings prior to 6:00pm so that the Peruvians can all go vote. We hosted a special English speaking service for those of us who do not vote here and enjoyed focusing on being grateful for who God is, what He has given us, and what He has not given us. The English-speaking Youth group, Transformers, continued each Thursday until the week before Christmas. It is encouraging to see these young people participating and eager to learn from God's Word.
