Room celebrates International Women's Day this Saturday at Heartwood Community Cafe in East Vancouver
International Women's Day has always been a special day for Room magazine. In 1975, which was International Women’s Year, the original Growing Room Collective—Gayla Reid, Gil van Varsveld, Laura Rippert, and Laurie Bagle—established Room (then called Room of One's Own) as a space to celebrate the voices of writers and artists identifying as women. Almost 40 years later, we are proud to be Canada's oldest literary journal by and about women.
