Due to a restructure within the Northern Agricultural Catchments Council (NACC) the Shire of Chapman Valley no longer hosts a Natural Resource Management Officer, however, the Shire still considers land care to be an important activity and continues to implement projects and strategies across our region through the support of local participants and various funding bodies. You can contact the Shire office register your interest to be involved in future natural resource management projects.

Oats are on the menu for the rabbits around Park Falls and Moresby area.  All landholders in Parkfalls Estate and surrounding properties are invited to be involved in a comprehensive baiting program to reduce rabbit populations.  The program will run over the next three months.  Rabbits are a priority issue, particularly in areas adjoining bushland containing threatened flora. The Shire has an opportunity to assist farmers to achieve their 1080 and Pindone baiting programs. Where baits can be laid by accredited landholders throughout the months of March to May, dollar for dollar funding is available. Please contact the Shire’s Project Coordinator Nicole Siemon on 0438 397 787 for more information.

If your club or organisation needs to update the gold leafing on existing honour boards, the CVFC are getting the ball rolling with an annual visit in May 2014.  If you have honour boards which require updating, contact Nicole Batten with the details.
 

 

The 2014 Our Neighbourhood Community Grants program is now open for applications. Funding of one-off payments of up to $10,000 will be available to community organisations with projects that will help to build healthier, more vibrant and more inclusive communities across Australia.

FRRR - SMALL GRANTS FOR RURAL COMMUNITIES

Grants will be made in amounts up to $5,000 to provide grants to benefit people in rural and remote communities.  Projects and activities will be supported that offer clear public benefit for communities in small rural, regional and remote locations in Australia, contributing to their social and community welfare, economic, environmental, health, education or cultural development.

RAC COMMUNITY SPONSORSHIPS

Grants up to $5000 available for projects that encourage safe driving, less emissions or public transport.  Any small projects that empower and strengthen local communities. Application under $5000 will be accepted all year round.  If between $5000 and $20 000, the next grants round closes 20th June 2014.

To provide funding for public schools to implement environmental projects to enhance their long-term sustainability.  This is your school's chance to receive a grant, up to $2,000 and bring an eco-project to life.  Past recipients have used the grants to plant sustainable gardens, hold an ECO day, build indigenous creeks and worm farms. They provide a great opportunity for teachers to embed sustainability into their students thinking as well as have some fun along the way.

SMALL GRANT PROGRAM FOR WOMEN AND CHILDREN

The Small Grants Program provides seed funding and prioritises those activities and projects which focus on addressing disadvantage in regards to women and children.
The types of project areas that may be funded include: poverty, domestic violence, women’s groups and activities, activities that focus on assisting children, women and/or children with disability, mental health and addictions. However, the Small Grants Program are not limited to these areas and these are only provided as a guide.

Rural Education Australia Program is a national program targeting education.  It supports locally driven projects and programs that directly benefit children and youth (0-18) and their educators in rural and remote communities.  Grants are up to $10 000.

COMMUNITY HERITAGE GRANTS

Applications for the National Library of Australia's Community Heritage Grants are now open. Up to $15,000 is offered to community organisations such as libraries, archives, museums, genealogical and historical societies, multicultural and Indigenous groups. The grants are provided to assist with the preservation of locally owned, but nationally significant collections of materials that are publicly accessible including artefact's, letters, diaries, maps, photographs, and audio visual material.
