Welcome Back!

We have been on quite a hiatus for the past few months and a lot has happened! We are now back with increased capacity and are looking forward to having the opportunity to grow our efforts and impact in the Greater Cincinnati community.

Read below to learn a bit about what has happened in the movement, upcoming events and legislation, and volunteer and employment opportunities.

Thank you for your patience and we look forward to continued engagement in the years to come!

Governor Kasich Signs HB 130

House Bill 130, the "End Demand Act," was signed by Governor Kasich on June 20 and was effective immediately. The new law makes it easier to prosecute traffickers of minor victims by removing the need to prove compulsion for victims 15 years old and under engaging in commercial sex, removing the need to prove compulsion for 16 and 17 year olds if the trafficker was in a position of authority over the minor, by adding fraud to the state definition of trafficking for all victims, and by making purchasing sex with a minor a felony violation.

Additional provisions are also included such as, prohibiting a person from knowingly using a minor's picture in advertisements for sexual activity, and prohibiting the advertisement of massage with the suggestion or promise of sexual activity.

With these new provisions, law enforcement will have greater strength in investigating and prosecuting traffickers and Johns.

Opportunities

Unfortunately this summer, we had to say good-by to our amazing Team Member, Taryn Fledderman. She accomplished so much and was such a great addition to the movement here, but she is now sharing her joy and experiences in a new position on the Northwest Coast!  We wish her the best and now look forward to re-building our team!

We have a few employment and other opportunities now available on our website, with more to come in the upcoming weeks. We are currently recruiting AmeriCorps PATH Member applicants to serve as outlets of public education and awareness of human trafficking in Cincinnati, Ohio.

More information about these and other opportunities that are available or will be coming soon can be found on the Employment page. Please share with anyone you think would be interested.

Recruitment will be closing shortly, so please act fast!
