High Court Hearing is Here,

Dear Friends,

With apologies for the impersonal format of this email I am writing to let you know that tomorrow I will be wearing a suit for the first time since my wedding day and attending the Royal Courts of Justice for a two day Judicial Review hearing. We will be asking a High Court Judge to strike down a new law in Camden which makes it a criminal offence to play music in any public place without Council approval. We will find out how much protection Article 10 (Freedom of Expression) of the Human Rights Act gives to musicians who play on the street. Whatever the result, the judges decision will set a precedent. The five months leading up to this moment have been some of the most demanding of my life, but now we have our day in court and it is very exciting to have made it this far. It is a public hearing so if you want to come, or to receive updates from the two day hearing, you are very welcome. I have set up a facebook event which will be updated regularly: https://www.facebook.com/events/537987419642527/. If you are in London and are able to attend the High Court in person it would be lovely to see some friendly and familiar faces. The address is Royal Courts of Justice, Strand, London, WC2A 2LL and the hearing begins at 10:30 before Mrs Justice Patterson in Court 64.

We have raised around two thirds of the £7500 needed to fully fund this legal challenge. We are hoping to raise the rest of our funds from a very special event in Leeds on March 23rd from 5pm. The award-winning vegetarian restaurant Hansas are hosting a 'Magical Musical Feast' which will consist of three courses of wonderful food, with a side order of three courses of wonderful live music and an auction thrown in for good measure! There will be performances from the Jonny Walker Band, the Jamie Fletcher Band and then the exceptional Beccy Owen will do a live performance of her new album 'Imago'. Advance tickets are available as a 'perk' on our crowd funding campaign, with all funds raised going towards our campaign.  We would really appreciate it if you could help us spread the word about what looks like being a very special evening and to come yourself if you possibly can!  Thanks for taking the time to read this (and my many other emails).

With love (And with considerable nervousness),
