Partnerships
Make a difference!
Wilson County DSS could not help so many individuals and families without the support of many partnerships and people who volunteer their time, energy and resources throughout Wilson County. We now have a link on our webpage that lists all the ways that people can partner with us. You can visit this page @ wilsoncountydss.org and choose the Donor Opportunities tab.
While these are areas that we have identified, you may be wanting to volunteer to help others through an idea of your own. Please contact us at the address below and let us know. Partnerships are powerful and we would like to partner with you.
Help a Foster Child in Need
Foster parent volunteers provide a safe, loving, temporary home to a Wilson County child whose family is experiencing a crisis. Training is mandatory and provided. Contact us today if you are interested in volunteering to help these children in need. If you are interested in helping, but are unable to provide a temporary home, consider making a tax deductible donation.
Help during the Holidays
The Holiday Program provides food, gifts and other resources to needy Wilson County families during the holiday season. All holiday donations are tracked through a database to avoid duplication.
Help Someone Be Prepared for Work
These employment programs help unemployed or underemployed Wilson County residents as they look for work. We have a need for help with one-time work related expenses such as uniforms, work boots and transportation repairs.
Help a Senior Stay Connected to the World
Wilson County seniors participate in an educational, motivational day of wellness inspired activities at our Senior Awareness Day. Your donation helps us ensure that numerous Seniors are able to participate in this event. You may choose to join the Senior Awareness Day committee. We would love to have you as a part of this team.
Help a Teen Stay in School
Teen parents are encouraged to stay in school and graduate. Staff coordinate mentoring, educational, and work opportunities to motivate teens to stay in school and delay a second pregnancy. Incentives for achieving educational milestones have proven effective; we need your help providing incentives.
Help a Family Stay Warm
During the winter months, many of our residents struggle to make ends meet and to provide heating for their family. Your donation helps us ensure that we are able to serve families in need.
Monetary donations
Donations are accepted year-round and are tax deductible. Your donation can be mailed to:
Wilson County DSS, 100 Gold Street NE, Wilson, NC 27894, Attention: Fiscal Office

DSS plans for Senior Day
The Wilson County Department of Social Services needs volunteers to help plan Wilson County’s 21st Annual Senior Awareness Day.
The event is Friday, May 9, 2014 at Farmington Heights Church during Older American's Month.
“It is an exciting time as we plan for this special day. We encourage and welcome our senior and disabled population to get involved in planning this wonderful event,” said Candice Rountree, Social Work Program Manager.
The Senior Awareness Day committee meets the third Wednesday of each month at 3:00 p.m. at the department of social services’ multipurpose room.
Individuals that are interested in volunteering may call 252-265-8338. Senior Awareness Day aims to educate Wilson County seniors and disabled adults about federal, state and local services and to celebrate their lives by showing seniors appreciation for their contributions to the our community.
The Wilson County Department of Social Services and community partners proudly sponsor this event.
