Impacts Worldwide

Global News

Lots of progress to share as we are work to spark meaningful change in communities worldwide!

New! 6 more Green Map Impact stories! Freshly written in Baltimore, Cape Town, Geneva, Curitiba Brazil, Guangzhou China and Gyeonggi Province Korea, each shares new approaches and outcomes succinctly. We invite you to download by the story or the entire book on our Impacts Updated Blog.

Newly expanded! Our award winning iconography Green by Design is our newest icon. Created in Cape Town, it is a ‘cultural character’ icon that designates places and projects designed to be sustainable, as seen on the updated icon poster! Cape Town is celebrating its status as World Design Capital 2014, and inspired this icon. Check it out on their newest Open Green Map!

Speaking of Cape Town, this city is among the finalists in WWF’s We Love Cities competition. Other Green Map cities are finalists, too, including Cleveland, Stockholm, Durban South Africa and Rio (set to blossom this Spring). Vote today, please. At Green Map System, we are delighted to have your support so we can help each of these cities (and hundreds more) make a positive difference throughout the year!

Our blog is full of good news. Fresh from Cuba is Mapa Verde en el Contexto Cubano covering 15 years of community-based work across the country. Our English blog includes the downloadable Spanish book (375 pages). And from Korea, there is lots of news, including a newly translated interface for the Open Green Map platform, now in 9 languages!

These projects and several others were undertaken by a great team of volunteers this season, including WonSun Choi from Seoul, Aruna Reddig from Germany and Bernice Keshet from Tel Aviv (watch for her Green Map soon!). And, this first week of March, we are once again welcoming a team from U Michigan School of Information, pitching in on website development.

Our award-winning Cycling Tours are the subject of a new how-to video we released in Chinese and English last month. With the tours being surprisingly meaningful, these videos will engage more people in community issues as well as promoting cycling. Special thanks to our ride series partners at Partnerships for Parks' Catalyst program.

Green Map Jam sessions are in the planning stages! More on these collaborations will be announced soon.
