Dear <<Salutation>> Reader,

Although summer seems far away, there are just four months left until the ISC’14 conference and exhibition. In this newsletter, we would like to share a few useful updates that might prove useful to our exhibitors and attendees.

Since the last newsletter, we interviewed Mr. André Kaldenhoff, Executive Director of the Leipzig Congress Center (CCL), who shared with us some of the details of the recent upgrades to the facility. Here’s what he had to say when asked what has changed since ISC’13 and what attendees should expect this time around:

We have analyzed the first event and also took a look at the aspects that were criticized by the attendees. For example, last year the ISC was held during an extreme heat wave, which meant that the rooms in the CCL were also very hot. For the upcoming ISC, the rooms will be adequately air-conditioned. To this end, we have rebuilt the entire air-conditioning system in the CCL. New units were installed in 14 rooms, and the capacity of the air-conditioning system was increased significantly.

Furthermore we also improved the media infrastructure.

NEW – Exhibitors Innovation Forum – Open for Participation

ISC’14 has created an appealing opportunity for first-time exhibitors to share the stories behind their product development and talk about any recent technical or commercial successes. Our goal is to bring the successful candidates face to face with users, collaborators and the media in a new format we’re calling the “Exhibitors Innovation Forum.”

We encourage all first-time exhibitors to submit their application to participate in the forum by Sunday, March 30. This year we will be giving ten organizations the opportunity to share their story with the ISC attendees, so make your pitch and win a slot. Full details are available online.
An Improved and Simplified Exhibiting Experience at ISC’14

To help modernize the exhibiting experience, we have digitalized the Exhibitor Manual, and revised the ISC Exhibitor Login (only accessible by exhibitors).

Within just a few clicks or typing your area of interest in the search engine, you’ll find precisely what you’re looking for. Check it out for yourself here. While you are at it, don’t forget to import the upcoming ISC'14 deadlines into your calendar.
ISC'14 Student Cluster Challenge Behind the Scenes – Featuring South Africa

Last year’s overall winner of the competition, the South African team, is working on strengthening its know-how and team spirit. This group of students recently visited one of the world’s fastest supercomputers, Stampede, thanks to its sponsor, Dell Foundation, and the team’s host, TACC. This bunch of dedicated youngsters will be traveling to Leipzig in June to participate in the competition that ISC co-organizes with the HPC Advisory Council.

Calling Student Volunteers from Around the Globe – Application Ends April 1, 2014

Every year ISC hosts an array of undergraduate and graduate students, who use the conference to strengthen their understanding of high performance computing and to meet potential employers and peers from around the world. Most of our former volunteers still enrolled in university programs return to the conference, as they appreciate being part of the ISC family.

Find out here how you can qualify for the program and the benefits that await you.
Latest Exhibition Update!

For those who may have missed the news, T-Platforms is back in business and will be exhibiting as a gold sponsor of ISC’14. AMD has also returned as bronze sponsor and SGI has booked a booth.

We are also excited to announce that a couple of Chinese companies, such as Sugon and Huawei will be exhibiting at ISC for the first time – yet another indication that ISC’14 is a “not-to-miss” exhibition in 2014.

Please Use a Responsible Agency for Your Hotel Bookings

We’re not going to tell you who you should work with for your ISC’14 hotel booking, but we advise you to engage the services of a responsible agency with a proven track record. We recently had the situation where an exhibitor was approached by a scam-type agency; luckily the exhibitor contacted us immediately and we were able to intervene.

If you are interested in engaging the services of our booking agent KIT, please refer to our website. This is the only agency that we work with and would recommend you to use.

KIT has informed us that some of the downtown hotels are currently in great demand, and thus it is advisable that you look into your hotel booking now.
