I Love Kansas but. . .
I'm ready to experience just one season a week! Friday afternoon was gorgeous - short sleeves, patio door open! Saturday/Sunday - right back in the middle of winter! We've had 2-3 inches - it's hard to tell since it's blown so much and the temperatures have dropped 65 degrees! We're thankful for the precipitation BUT . . .
Bring on the Spring!
To help celebrate the beginning of spring hopefully, this month, we're having a "Bring on the Spring" Sale. There are two options here:
*Buy 50# of ground beef, get 5# free.
*10# of ground beef, 1# of hot dogs, 1# all beef brats for $70. Great way to break in the grill!
Both sale items will be available in March while supplies last.
Eggs!
Looks like our hens needed a little more daylight to get going. Now that the days are getting longer, we're getting almost 4 dozen eggs a day. Now, many of them are pullet eggs but it won't take long for them to be full-sized. Check out the yolks - a beautiful golden yellow. They're finding green wheat to supplement and the chlorophyll is what gives them the gorgeous color.
Greenhouse
THE GREENHOUSE IS DONE!!!! Kurt, the girls and my in-laws put the plastic on last weekend while I was at a forensics tournament. From the stories I heard, it took all of them to get it done. Even Anna found ways to help - some of which involved singing and dancing! Kurt put the finishing touches on this week while the weather was still nice and as soon as the weather improves this week, it will be time to plant. Can't wait to have fresh salad greens! And early tomatoes!
Hams
We have several different types of hams available if you're looking for something special for Easter or just a family meal.
*Natural cure ham - no nitrates/nitrites added at all. Great flavor but a little different than a traditional ham.
*Smoked ham - Heat and eat. Good stuff! I'm not a ham eater (the stuff I remember from growing up had a slimy feel to eat) and I LOVE these!
*Spiral cut hams - we tried these new this time and we're anxious to see how they turned out.
Turkeys
We've had several customers already say they'd like a turkey for the holidays. We will take reservations throughout the year. If you know you'd like 1 or 2, go ahead and let me know and it will help us make better planning decisions for the summer.
Beef
We are continuing to take reservations for quarters, halves and whole beeves for May/June.
Stay warm and safe!
