March 2014

Things have been moving along quite well ...

to the point where I wasn't sure exactly when to send this newsletter this month. First I was going to send it mid-month and show you all Ione's Wedding Problem, the first of 3 short films based around the character Ione. Then, when I realized only a week later we'd be premiering the second of those film, I figured it's best to wait and share them both with you. So, today, right now, you can watch both of these Ione shorts. You can see them over on YouTube or on Vimeo. Whichever you like better. More on those shorts and other upcoming projects below. Read on!

As I was saying today I want to share with you two of three planned Ione shorts. The first one, Ione's Wedding Problem is a fun intro to Ione and her goals. In the film Ione is procrastinating on taking her LSAT practice test until she enlists the help of some animated monsters to help her solve the logic problem in the first question.
The second film is Ione's Last Hand in which Ione and her former bandmate Andi play a hand of poker over whether or not Ione will rejoin their band on top of continuing to pursue law school.
The third film, Ione's Date, is coming in April and deals with Ione being confronted directly with the conflict between her lifestyle and her law school aspiration. Ione's Date will wrap up Ione's story for now, but we're not done with her. Ione is a major character in one of my feature screenplays and you'll be seeing her again.
Please watch the films, click the like buttons that are there, share the films with people. Tell everyone just how much you like them. Which, I can only assume, is a whole lot (lie to me, if you must).
Also, if you prefer Youtube to the above Vimeo links, you can see the films on Youtube here.

Coming Soon ...

We have a lot of things on the horizon. As I said, we're doing a 3rd and final Ione short. We're also shooting actress Kitty Ostapowicz's first screenplay, a short film titled 600 Steps. It's been a pleasure working with Kitty on Metatron, the Ione shorts, and A Change of Expression, over the past 6 months, and I'm honored she wanted to work with me on her first screenplay.

On top of that there's a long list of other ideas, including a dramatic time-travel short that I'm so excited about I'm having a hard time not just writing all the details out for you now. I'm excited enough about how much potential this film has, you might just be hearing about a crowdfunding campaign on Seed&Spark for it very soon.

On top of those projects there's also a few other ideas under discussion. I'm dedicated to keeping a pretty consistent flow of work coming out in 2014.

And Meme, my first feature film, is coming. I'm still hard at work on making that story happen. I've had some good meetings about it in the last few weeks and you'll be hearing more about it soon.
Again this month included working at I Was There Workshops for Veterans. In March we headed to Fort Drum in upstate New York. We got caught in that little snow storm they were calling "Vulcan" and had to deal with some icy road conditions but it was a great experience. In April I'll be heading to Fort Bragg in North Carolina. Looking forward to seeing some of our Alumni there.  The films these soldiers make in these 4 half-day sessions never fails to impress me and it's inspiring to see how powerful a tool storytelling can be for healing.
