Sustainable Communities SA AGM 2014

The AGM of Sustainable Communities SA will be held on Thursday 15 May 2014 at the Box Factory, Regent Street South, Adelaide at 7pm.

We will distribute all the relevant details to members shortly.

We ask all members to consider nominating for the coordinating group as an office bearer or ordinary member as we really need additional people to assist in the management of our organisation. Please be in touch with Rosalie or Debbie if you would like more information on the coordinating group.

The meeting will include a guest speaker - details to follow.

WANTED One Planet Market Volunteers

The One Planet community market has been operating since February 19th 2011 and has proved to be a successful community event encouraging local trade and reuse of resources.  It is held the 3rd Saturday of the month at Payneham Community Centre from 9-12, as well as trading stalls there is a regular speaker or workshop at 10.30am (check out the Events Page). Recently we have also added a clothes swap every 2nd month.

The upside is it is growing and ever popular the downside is we need a few more helping hands ... you don't need to commit to every month or even for the full 3 hours, but if you love the market and want to be a part of this fantastic community event  get in touch.

Email Debbie on  or come down to the market and speak to one of the stall holders they can point you in the direction of someone that can explain what happens.

The Sharing Economy

In recent times many exciting new sharing initiatives are popping up around the world. Sharing is nothing new, but in the modern world where it seems essential that everyone clutter their house with tools and gadgets they might only use once a year the resurgence of sharing is an important part of creating a sustainable lifestyle. Initiatives such as the Berlin Borrowing Shop Leila, where members can borrow anything from board games to wine glasses, fog machines to hiking rucksacks, juicers to unicycles and other tool libraries are just part of a wider scene of sharing.

The Shareable website gives a good source of ideas and do it yourself guides of what is happening in the sharing economy worldwide.
