FCIA Party Invitation and Spring Events

full circle spring party!

Greetings everyone and welcome to the second day of Spring! This is your formal invitation to a celebration of the season with a practice/potluck/movie event! On Sunday, April 13th we'll meet at 4:00 pm at Silver Beach Elementary School for an hour of practice and then gather at the Majestic (upper level) around 5:15 for a potluck feast and movie night. I've heard The Grandmaster is quite excellent and would be a good choice for the evening. It even received a nod from the Oscars recently. Bring your favorite potluck dish and join us for a fun celebration! Family and friends are also welcome and please RSVP to let me know how many to expect. I look forward to seeing you!

spring tai chi events

I'm happy to announce a few upcoming events in addition to weekly forms classes, and a couple that are still in the planning stages...

A Day of Pushing Hands: Refining Drills and Skills

We'll deepen our listening skills through the point of connection. We'll clarify the legs, hips, waist, and core relationshop in fixed step partner work. And we'll look at creative approaches to traditional drills. Bring your questions, insights, and inspiration to dig deep and enjoy the ride. I look forward to working with you!

A Day of Qigong II
Our last event in Sedro Wooley was a great success. And there is just something special about group qigong practice. This time, we will review the neigong practices presented before and introduce an excellent moving set called the Eight Pieces of Brocade. With these established, we will have a great foundation for a monthly qigong gathering in Sedro Wooley. All are welcome, no prior experience is necessary.
Date: Saturday, April 5th
Time: 10:30 - 4:30
Place: The Center of Holistic Wellness, Sedro Wooley
Tuition: 55
Space is limited, please email or call Art Baner to reserve your place.

Taiji Fundamentals Class: The 5-Section Form and more. I'm currently pondering a new beginning level forms class. If  you are someone you know is interested, please let me know. This weekly class will run approximately three months and will cover core principles and a short but sweet solo form.

Small Group and Private Lessons. If you would like to learn Tai Chi and/or qigong but have schedule conflicts with normal group classes, I offer private and small group study options. I've done much of my own study this way and find it a very effective and enjoyable way to learn. Location can be either at my office or at your home. Call for more information or to schedule...

An Excellent Read:
If you are looking for a good book related to Tai Chi and personal development in general, may I suggest The Art of Learning by Josh Waitzkin. It is an entertaining and inspiring look at how we learn and how we can more effectively master anything we find worth our time and energy. He also has a website based on his work with innovative learning approaches. Highly recommended!
