Contact Your Legislators About the Lanterman Coalition Letter
 It's the road map back to a healthy sustainable developmental services system.
Over fifty years ago, California made a promise to this State's most vulnerable residents. The Lanterman Developmental Disabilities Services Act sets forth the State's commitment to people with developmental disabilities. Due to budget cuts over the past 30 years, California is failing to keep its promise to Californians with developmental disabilities. In order to keep that promise to individuals with developmental disabilities living in the community and to provide a viable community alternative to persons currently living in the developmental centers, the Lanterman Coalition has made a number of budget recommendations.

Los Angeles-Based Advocates Showcase Broad Range of Support for Making Early Start Whole, ARCA Introduces Petition to Fully Fund Early Start
 Fifteen groups join together to spread the word about the benefits of this critical service, and urge its full funding.
Last Friday, well over 100 advocates, activists and concerned citizens came together in Los Angeles for 211 L.A. County's Early Start Advocacy Day. Under the coordination of Patricia Herrera, project director, and Maribel Marin, executive director, the standing-room only crowd heard about the program, federal perspectives, personal stories from families and advocates, and updates on both clinical and therapeutic developments. This event showcased the broad range of support for Early Start.
The Association of Regional Center Agencies Launches Petition to Fully Fund Early Start
The Assembly Budget Subcommittees will be discussing developmental services tomorrow, Wednesday, March 19, 2014, and the groups are circulating ARCA's petition to urge Early Start's full funding and have a goal of 1,000 signatures by tomorrow.
The Senate hearing is on March 27, 2014, and their goal is to get to 2,000 signatures on the petition prior to the Senate hearing.

Organizations Sign Open Letter to Governor Brown to Fully Renew and Restore Early Start
Check out the many organizations that joined in support of last Friday's 211 L.A. County-led Early Start town hall: First 5 LA, Zero To Three, Children's Bureau, IDA California, Child Development Institute, Eisner Pediatric & Family Medical Center, Children Now, California Consulting, San Gabriel Valley Civic Alliance, L.A. Care, Health Net, Alliance for Children's Rights, and Autism Speaks - Southern California Chapter.
In the vein of organizations supporting Early Start, the Association of Regional Center Agencies has a new open letter to Governor Brown, specifically for organizations to sign on to. Big or small, groups are welcome to join in support of this new prong in an ever-growing grassroots effort to renew Early Start.
