Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you. He will make your innocence radiate like the dawn, and the justice of your cause will shine like the noonday sun. (Psalm 37:5-6)

Update from Honduras, 2014

Daniel & Jessie Fox

Thank you so much to each of you that support us emotionally, prayerfully, and financially! We hope you will take a few minutes to check out some of the things that you have made possible so far in 2014, as well as read about ways you can get involved in the coming months! Look for the bolded blue words below for ways to get involved and make a difference in the lives of deaf Hondurans!
With much love and gratitude,
D&J

“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” (Genesis 50:20)

Sermon illustration on the Body of Christ. Orlan, with no arms, had to get ready for "work". Then with the help of 2 other church members, each acting as arms, he did it again to see which way functioned better. Although equally "messy", he was able to accomplish the task more efficiently! We need each other in the Body!

"The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ." (1 Corinthians 12:12-26)

Thanks to some of our supporters, every person at the Deaf church in La Ceiba now has an Illustrated Spanish Bible. It's been fun for them to find the stories we teach each week at church and then have a visual reminder to be able to take home with them and study throughout the week! A special thank you to those of you who helped with this project!
Wilson, Eduin, and Orlan are day 5 in the creation drama in February! "Creatures of the air!"
In Elixir, Nancy and Zenia read a book about how we are princes and princesses of the King! It was a special time of reconnecting with the deaf and hearing there!

We sent four SofL staff and volunteers to another part of the country to train a very motivated group of Hondurans at Escuela Angeles! We are so proud of the work they are doing to train others to better serve the deaf and children with special needs in their area! Please pray for them and their leaders as they continue to seek God's plans in all they do!

Are you interested in partnering with us on a special project or donating needed materials? Check out our "Wish List" and e-mail us with any questions about getting involved! We will be updating this in the coming months as we prepare for camp and special summer programs, so check back again!
Mother's day is just around the corner! Are you interested in hosting a jewelry party in your small group or work to help distribute the jewelry made by our deaf artists? We send everything right to your door! Send us an e-mail if you are interested in supporting the ministry in this unique way.

"Their story is also a strangely familiar one of how God pursues each of his children, each of us.  Of how in our isolation HE comes for us! Month after month year after year, lost in our sin, HE pursues us! Woos us with HIS special language of love and invites us into community with other children of God!  And then…HE invites us to join HIM in showing this relentless pursuit of love to others!" Operation Honduras brought a team to Honduras to do hearing tests and make molds for the deaf/HOH. We were grateful for this opportunity to build relationships with some of the newer families in our programs as well as connect with other deaf that traveled from other cities to be tested!
We got to do a book reading at a local bilingual school of "Enrique Speaks with His Hands," a children's story about a deaf Honduran who grew up with SofL.  We were invited back a second time to share at chapel with the older students and they had a blast learning some basic sign language too!
Such a simple thing like a new pair of shoes can mean the world to a kid that has never had a new pair of shoes. For our monthly supporters that don't always see the specific things your funds support, this is just one of many ways that you are helping to show the love of Jesus each month! We are so grateful for your faithfulness to us and this ministry!

Congratulations to the 6 students who passed their final exam and received their certificate of completion for the first and second levels of Honduran Sign (LESHO)! We are excited to start new classes this week!

Jessie, Nancy, Orlan, and Zenia had the opportunity to share about Signs of Love on a local television station!
Three of our deaf leaders have been visiting various churches for a project on deaf awareness. They have been spreading the word about Signs of Love and inviting the community to participate in this unique ministry! Part of their presentation is on video here!
We were thrilled to see this little guy open up!  He was painfully shy at the first program, but here at his second program he was flashing everyone this beautiful smile!
"We must begin to believe that God, in the mystery of prayer, has entrusted us with a force that can move the Heavenly world, and can bring its power down to earth." (Andrew Murray)

Please join us in praying for His power on earth through this ministry.  Here are some of our current requests.
