County Commission request for support letter 

From the 4/1The City has been requesting that the West Virginia Department of Highways repair the light poles long Monongalia Boulevard from Eighth Street to Patteson Drive.  The Monongalia County Commission has requested that the City write a support letter to accompany the County's letter and West Virginia University's letter requesting the WVDOH fix the lighting problems on Monongalia Boulevard.  With Council's Consent on Tuesday, a letter will be written and provided to the County for delivery to District 4 Engineer Greg Phillips. 

Urban Landscapes Prepares for Spring Beautification 

As the last of the polar vortices melt away, the Urban Landscapes Department and Commission have already been working to prepare project sites for the upcoming growing season.

Mon River Trails Conservancy: Deckers Creek Trail Reopened near mile 8-9

Greer Industries has been repairing a conveyor over the Deckers Creek Rail Trail, near mile 8 at the Decker’s Creek Limestone Mine (aka Little Greer).  The trail should reopen today, March 28.  


Volunteer Opening: Sister Cities Commission

This is your last chance to apply for the opening on the Sister Cities Commission! The applicant must live in the Greater Morgantown area and attend one meeting a month. The Sister Cities Commission meets to discuss tourism, international programs, and exchanges. Deadline for application is March 30, 2014. Read for more information... 
 

MFD Investigated Five Fires Last Weekend

The Morgantown Fire Department investigated five fires that occurred early Sunday morning through late Monday afternoon. Two structure fires and three dumpster fires kept firefighters busy over the last 36-hours. 
Anyone with additional information about the dumpster fires should contact the Morgantown Arson Hotline at (304) 225-3586.

Notice of Public Hearing: Community Development Block Grant 2014-18 Consolidated Plan

The City of Morgantown will hold a Public Hearing on Thursday, April 1, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, City Hall, located at 389 Spruce Street, Morgantown, WV. This hearing is intended to provide an oppertunity for the Public and other interested parties to provide input and review the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) 2014-2018 Consolidated Plan goals and objectives for the five-year plan. Read for more information...
 

Next River Town Action Team Meeting to be held April 3

The Action Team's regular monthly meetings will be held the first Thursday of each month. The next meeting will be held Thursday, April 3, at 4:30 p.m. at the Wiles Hill Community Center (287 Eureka Drive).

The Green Team and Farmer's Market (503 N. High Street) in Morgantown are cosponsoring a "Green Households Resource Fair" on April 19th from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the last winter farmer's market.
