Coming soon: a SNAP® Explosion!

In 2013, CDI’s SNAP® program was selected as the Pecaut Centre for Social Impact’s (PCSI) first project to receive support and capacity building expertise from PCSI and its sector partners, including the Boston Consulting Group, Cossette, Ernst and Young, McCarthy Tetrault and the Offord Group. With the help and support of PCSI, we’re embarking on a “SNAP® Explosion”, with the goal of extending and deepening the reach of SNAP® across Canada, and building a sustainable business plan for this growth.

Over the last year, the SNAP® Advisory Committee and CDI have been working closely with PCSI and their sector partners to develop a SNAP® Implementation Plan, with the goal of 140 SNAP® Affiliate sites, serving an additional 20,000 children, across Canada over the next five years.

We are looking forward to seeing one of our children’s mental health “big solutions” take centre stage nationally.

Bell Let’s Talk Day

As part of the Bell Let's Talk Day initiative on January 29, CDI had the privilege of working with a group of business specialists from Bell who volunteered their time to help support the business planning process for the SNAP® Explosion. Thank you to everyone from Bell who participated – it was an inspiring day for everyone who attended!
Special visitors at the Parkdale-High Park OEYC

On Friday, February 14, the Parkdale-High Park Ontario Early Years Centre (OEYC) welcomed Peggy Nash, MP for Parkdale-High Park, and Cheri DiNovo, MPP for Parkdale-High Park, to the Centre as part of a city-wide OEYC initiative in honour of Family Day. Ms. Nash and Ms. DiNovo were engaged visitors and enjoyed meeting families and staff - they happily participated in Circle Time and led the group through a spirited version of the Hokey Pokey! Both left saying the event had added cheer to their morning and vowed to pressure their respective governments for more funding for early learning programs.
