A sneak peek at the new Swan 60s! 

Here are some exclusive images of the two new Swan 60 yachts in build in the Nautor’s Swan yard in Pietarsaari, Finland. Swan 60-909 is well underway in assembly at Nautor BTC and as you can see from the first image there is a lot going on with the build at this stage. Swan 60-910 on the other hand is in the final stages of lamination.

The bottom left and right images show Swan 60-910 and the hull before the bulkheads were installed. The top right image is of the deck laminates before curing in the oven. We thank Benny Brännbacka, Project Manager on the Swan 60 build, Oy Nautor AB for these images.

The two Swan 60s have a scheduled summer delivery, with one yacht heading to an owner in the USA and the other to an owner in China. You can view interior images of a Swan 60 model on the Class website - www.gazpromswan60class.com/swan60/interior

33 Copa del Rey Mapfre 2014 - Notice of Race
 
The organising committee of the 33 Copa del Rey Mapfre has announced that the Notice of Race and the online entry form are now available on the event website - www.regatacopadelrey.com.

Playing host to the Gazprom Swan 60 World Championship this year, the 33 Copa del Rey Mapfre will bring the class to together in the Mediterranean for the first time. The organising committee is greatly looking forward to hosting all Swan 60 yachts from the 2nd - 9th August at the Real Club Nautico de Palma.

Rolex Swan Cup Notice of Race
 
The Rolex Swan Cup Notice of Race has been published and is available for download via the Gazprom Swan 60 Class website – www.gazpromswan60class.com/class/official-documents

We look forward to welcoming eight Swan 60 yachts, owners and crews to the 18th edition of the Rolex Swan Cup this September. You can find more information on the Rolex Swan Cup and additional Class Circuit events on the Class website – www.gazpromswan60class.com/events/2014

The Notice of Race for the Gaeta Maxi Regatta 2014 and the Rolex Capri Sailing Week 2014 are also available for download via the Gazprom Swan 60 Class website, event organisers are hoping to see some Swan 60s at the events. All official Class documents can be found on the website.

Introducing the new Swan 60 owner - Mr Fan

Mr Fan is one of the two new owners of the above mentioned Swan 60 yachts. We caught up with Mr Fan and discovered his plans for his new Swan 60:

Q - Why did you choose a Swan 60?

A - The Swan 60 chose me rather than me choosing her. I decided I wanted to have a very nice sailing yacht as my birthday gift, and the Swan 60 fits this need perfectly. She has a great balance between cruising and racing, as well as pleasure and business. She stands out over other yachts with perfect craftsmanship and easy handling.

Q - What are your plans for 2014 with your new Swan 60?

A - After the delivery of my yacht I will take her to join the Gazprom Swan 60 Class 2014 Circuit, taking part in the three circuit regattas. I will also be using her to cruise with my son, around the Med. I can’t wait to have some quality time with him, in the beautiful ocean on the yacht without the distraction of computer games! I have a very strong team to race with me now, and I am expecting great results this year, it is definitely going to be an unforgettable life experience!
 
Nord Stream Race at Helsinki Boat Show

The Nord Stream Race was presented at the Helsinki Boat Show in February, with event organisers Norddeutscher Regatta Verein on-site to promote the race to interested Finnish sailors. The event attracted a number of Finnish sailors, watersport club representatives and journalists who were keen to find out more about the race and especially the Helsinki stop-over.

The Nord Stream Race fleet will arrive into Helsinki on May 30th and will complete a weekend of racing in the city before departing for the 600 nautical mile race to Warnemunde, Germany. Find out more here: www.gazpromswan60class.com/events/2014/nord-stream-race-2014

Swan 60 Trophy presented at ClubSwan Reception

Swan 60 owners and guests were invited to a ClubSwan awards dinner which took place on Thursday, 6th March in Amsterdam. ClubSwan, together with the St Petersburg Yacht Club, hosted guests at the historic Maritime Museum, with the idyllic waterfront location setting the scene perfectly. During the evening the Gazprom Swan 60 Class President, Mr Vladimir Liubomirov introduced guests to the Gazprom Swan 60 Class - reviewing the success of the inaugural class circuit, revealing plans for the year ahead and sharing his future aspirations for the Class.  

A prize giving ceremony followed Vladimir's speech, and to his delight, Swan 60 Bronenosec received the inaugural Gazprom Swan 60 World Championship trophy. Following the speeches and the prize giving, guests enjoyed a fabulous buffet dinner.
