A little exciting news before we get into our inspiring feature with Brian Scudamore...

Excited to announce
Jump for Joy Photo Project and Murality are joining forces! I'm creating a large scale outdoor Public Art Mural on a building in Vancouver's Down Town East Side with a collage of enlarged photos of people jumping around Vancouver. More info on this project coming soon :)

BRIAN SCUDAMORE ...

From: I was born in San Francisco and moved to Vancouver with my family when I was young.
Lives: I’ve lived in Vancouver ever since.
Work: I’m an entrepreneur and founder of three brands:
1-800-GOT-JUNK?, WOW 1 DAY PAINTING, and You Move Me.

Q: What inspires you to jump for joy?
A:
Helping people make their dreams come true fills me with joy. In my work we have a 101 Life Goals program where people can share their personal dreams, as well as a “Can You Imagine Wall” where people can share their dreams for the companies. The most memorable dream come true though was taking my family and close friends to an Italian Villa for a month when I turned 40. Now that makes me jump for joy!

Q. Your experience doing jumping photos?
A:
Jumping for joy made me feel exhilarated – it was a great exercise! Plus it was nice to get out of the office on a beautiful, sunny Vancouver day!

Q: What inspires you in life?
A:
I am inspired by the possibilities I see around me all the time. Being open to possibility leads to new beginnings, new successes, and new celebrations. I love to watch the people I care about – both at my work and in my personal life – grow and flourish.

Q: Your greatest passion?
A:
My greatest passion in life is working with people to make great things happen. There is nothing so rewarding as working hard at achieving something you thought was impossible and celebrating success at the end of the journey. I’m passionate about taking that journey with others.

Q: Your driving force?
A:
My driving force in life is my vision. Since I was very young I’ve enjoyed that mind/body connection people often call the gut instinct. I call it vision and it drives me in both my work and personal life. Why? I like a challenge, especially when a goal seems insurmountable. Having a vision has always helped me through that process to find success. It hasn’t let me down yet!

Q: Your philosophy?
A:
My life has always been about looking for the next unique opportunity and surrounding myself with great people to travel with along on the way. We work as a passionate, focused team and we seldom follow a familiar trajectory. I guess you could say my real life philosophy is “take the road less traveled.”

Q: Anything in the world?
A: I’m doing exactly what I always dreamed of. Being an entrepreneur is the greatest dream come true. While some kids dreamed of being Superman or an astronaut, I dreamed of being a junkman!

Q: Working on?
A: I am currently pursuing my passion for all things Italian. I’ve traveled a number of times to Italy and am now taking Italian lessons and learning to cook delicious Italian meals for my friends and family.

Q: Mini bio, interesting facts about you or something special you want to share.
A:
I may be living my dream with a philosophy of taking the road less traveled. But I’ve had my share of challenges along the way. I was fired from every job I ever had, including when I worked for my grandparents at their Army Surplus Store when I was a kid!

I dropped out of high school, talked my way into college, then dropped out of that also. But then, I always had that vision…

Since those days I’ve graduated from MIT’s Birthing of Giants program and participated in a nine-year executive education program at Harvard University. I may be colour-blind and be wracked by ADD from time to time, but I haven’t let it get me down!
