Maria Montessori said:
“Adults work to finish a task, but the child works in order to grow and is working to create the adult, the person that is to be.”
Alexa Whyte, MSBG seventh grader, received the "Positive Start" award from the Bowling Green Exchange Club.
This award is given to seventh and eighth grade students who have reached out to make a difference in their community.
She received her award at a ceremony earlier this week.
Alexa was honored for her efforts to create a children's book that she will share with younger students at MSBG to help them understand the importance of kindness to animals. This project is Alexa's individual service project for the year, part of the Middle School's goal to match students' strengths with community needs.

Family Game Night-TONIGHT!
Come out and play at Family Game Night, Friday, April 11, 6:00–8:00pm. Have some Myles Pizza & salad and enjoy team-building games, word games, board games, and athletic games—all hosted by our spunky, funky, hiptastic dads. Siblings, grandparents, and your peculiar Uncle Ned are welcome. Take a night off with your family at MSBG!
Grandparents/Special Adults' Week
Calling all grandparents and special adults!
Your grandchildren would love to have you spend some time with them in the classroom. Please see the sign-up sheets located in the foyer. If you have questions, please email or speak with the classroom teachers or the office. Time slots are available in one-hour increments in order to accommodate all the grandparents but you may sign up for more time slots if the schedule allots. If you are interested in visiting during one of the enrichment programming time (Spanish, Music, Physical Education, Art, Band), please check with the classroom teachers for the schedule.
We're so looking forward to our special visitors week! All sign up sheets are in the foyer on the white board.
MSBG to Host Usborne Book Fair!
MSBG invites you to discover the magic of reading with the children in your life! We are hosting an Usborne Books and More book fair Monday, April 14 through Friday, April 18 . Usborne Books expand a child's world through education and imagination. This is a family friendly book fair with choices for infants through young adult. Prices begin at just $4.99. Cash, Checks (payable to Usborne Books), Visa, Master Card and Discover are all accepted. You may also shop on-line and view all 1500+ titles when you click HERE.
To volunteer, click HERE and please just type in your name right in the slot in which you volunteer. We have several spots yet that need to be filled. We really appreciate it!
The children raised $1740 and with that total the Physical Education program will receive a $100 gift certificate from US Games! How wonderful!
It takes 4 to 6 weeks for the students' gifts to arrive.
Kroger Re-Enrollment
Starting April 1, 2013, all Kroger Plus cards must be reenrolled to continue to receive benefits paid to MSBG. Reenrollment must happen before April 30th in order to avoid any interruption in the rebates paid. This is for ALL Kroger Plus cards, even if you just enrolled your card for this year. It is very simple to reenroll – just login to your Kroger Plus account
( www.krogercommunityrewards.com
or www.kroger.com and click Community),
and make sure that MSBG is selected as your non-profit of choice. If you have any problems with re-enrollment, please contact Alisa Suelzer at Alisa.Suelzer@gmail.com.
Chess Updates
The Worthington Chess Challenge was held on March 15 at the Evening Street Elementary School in Worthington OH. For this tournament, 211 kids played 5 games over the course of the day. Of the 34 players in the K-2 category, Aiden Skinner won the 10th place trophy. Gabriel Skinner, participating in his second tournament ever, was one of only 3 kindergarteners playing. Competing against only 1st and 2nd graders, he placed 16th. These individual scores earned MSBG a third place in this category, placing only 1 point behind 2nd place (St Joseph Montessori) and 1.5 points behind 1st place (Wellington Elementary).
