Welcome to AustStab's 24th newsletter. In April 2014:

We participated in meetings with members in NSW and Qld;
Council confirmed the accreditation of five new contractors in New South Wales and Queensland;
We delivered the Insitu stabilisation course in conjuction with CPEE in Geraldton WA;
Council resolved to hold AustStab membership fees at the 2012 level for a third year;
We continued to deliver on the pillars of the association.

Standards Out for Public Comment

AS 1289.6.1.1 Methods of testing soils for engineering purposes - Soil strength and consolidation tests - Determination of the California Bearing Ratio of a soil - Standard laboratory method for a remoulded specimen and AS 1289.3.8.3 Methods of Testing Soils for Engineering Purposes - Soil classification tests-Dispersion-Determination of pinhole dispersion classification of a soil are currently open for public comment.

They have been under review by the Standards Australia Group CE-009.

Rob Cox, Macquarie Goetechnic and Howard Jeffery-Wright, Downer Group, have been actively representing the stabilisation industry in this review.

AustStab ARRB Accredited Contractor List has just grown!

This month Council accepted the nominations for 5 new accredited contracts across New South Wales and Queensland.

The newly accredited contractors were:

Ausroads
Hiway Stabilizers Australia
Mid Coast Road Services
Robinson Civil FNQ Pty Ltd
RPQ

The contractors varied in their skill sets and types of production from powder to liquid binders, insitu stabilisation and plant stabilisation.

AustStab are continuing to lobby State Government Road Agencies to recognise the AustStab ARRB Accreditation Scheme as a pre-requiste for works completed under SRA funding arrangements.

AustStab Conference 2014 - Registration now open!

AustStab will host the 19th Annual AGM and 3rd Annual Awards dinner on 18 - 20 August 2014 at the Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley - Shooting for the Stars.

Registration is now open. Click here for information.

In response to member feedback in 2013, we have now included a confirmation page as part of the registration procedure.

Accommodation for the conference can be booked as part of the registration process.

Members will note that the Lime Working Group has been retitled Lime and Cement Working Group.
